Presgrave Road 888 Hokkien Mee & other hawker stalls, Georgetown
After taking Jerome and Elise from France to Northam Beach Cafe for their debut in Malaysia's hawker stall, they are really indulge into more hawker food. How can I say no to my fellow new friends here? So I took them to Presgrave Road Hawker Center which is slightly different type of experience compare with the Northam Beach Cafe. Northam Beach Cafe is a seaside hawker center while Presgrave Road Hawker Center is at the roadside. Actually their name itself has explained it all. The most famous stall in Presgrave Road Hawker Center is this 888 Hokkien Mee. |

Overall: 4/5 - This has voted as the best by Jerome and Elise. Can you imagine everyday after that they are just craving for it? They had it again at Kuala Lumpur few days later but really upset them. Yes, even me as a Malaysian has never taste this kind of "taste" before. Really uniquely delicious. At first, I thought they might not like it because it is all black in it. They might feel weird but in the end it turned out to be superb. Of course, I am happy because they are happy!
Jerome wanted a Wanton Mee here and he did made a good choice. The wanton mee here is superb but not their dumpings (sui kow). You can skip that. |

Overall: 3/5 - The noodle is very well soak which gives you the tangy and springy feeling in your mouth. The taste is well mixed too!
Turnip Cake with Duck Meat @RM4.20 |

Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Spotted not a bad turnip cake stall turned out to be a delicious turnip cake! The wok taste is there and the bean sprouts are so crunchy and juicy. This stall is just right opposite of the Wanton Mee stall.
Fried Oyster @RM8.00 |
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Jerome and Elise prefer this Fried oyster compare with the Northam Beach Cafe's because they prefer half-raw rather than fully cooked oyster. For me, they are both equally good as long as their oysters are big!
Note: If you are not sitting inside the 888 Hokkien Mee stall, you need to carry the bowl by yourself to your desire table. So I recommend you to sit inside the stall. Other hawker stalls willing to take their plate to your seat if you are seating there.
