Satay Malaysia, Kota Bahru

Image
Satay Malaysia is a very famous satay in Kota Bahru like our famous Satay Kajang at Klang Valley area. Located beside the main road of Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, quite easily being spotted as it is located at the right side when you are coming out from Kota Bahru. Their satay station. Air Bandung is one of the famous drink in Kota Bahru. It is a must have drink in their menu in every restaurants in Kota Bahru. I still prefer a Milo Dinosaur which is something I can find in most of the restaurants in Klang Valley. The drinks here are quite expensive like in Klang Valley. Satay 10 Pieces Set @RM11.50 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - The chicken meat is well made and very nicely done when mixed together with their hot satay sauce. The sauce is refillable by yourself. I ordered another 10 pieces after this. However, it is not a cheap satay when it is cost RM0.80 per stick. Nasi Pattaya @RM6.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: ...

Pantai Cahaya Bulan, Kota Bahru

Image
The most famous beach at Kelantan is Pantai Cahaya Bulan. It is located about 10 km from Kota Bharu and the landing area the Japanese to attack the British on December 8, 1941. At one point, this beach named Pantai Cinta Berahi, a name said to be given by a British soldier while he was on shore at the time of World War II. At that time, the soldier is suffering because of unrequited love. Some local people are still using the old name today, although they prefer to refer to this beach as PCB. The name changed to Pantai Cahaya Bulan after Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party took over Kelantan. Very nice sea color. However, the beach is very short because of the high tide. Too many stones here are built to defense against fierce storm. This coast is about 1.2 kilometers. This beach is famous for its long and wide area, with beautiful sand and clear water. Ru and tree-lined palm trees add to the beauty about this beach.  Nice place for photo shooting either it is a sunset s...

Pantai Sri Tujoh, Tumpat

Image
Kelantan and Terengganu have not much exciting spots except their beautiful beaches. I will guide you along the way from Kelantan all the way to Terengganu in this one week. So I will start off with Pantai Sri Tujoh which is the nearest beach to the Thai border at Tumpat. One thing special about this beach is it has a fresh water lake. As we can see from the picture here. Apart of the fresh water lake, there is a swamp here too. This place will be much dirtier. The sky on that day was not very pleasing. Well, when you are here between the month of September and January. You will always been greeted with heavy rain. The monsoon period will be between October till January. Within this period, avoid to visit any of these beaches. Extremely dangerous! The sea color is not very attractive. Slightly brownish and not clear. The beaches are wide but... ...very dirty!!! There are kayaking and canoeing service here in this fresh water lake. Overall, I am not reall...

Restoran Wau, Kota Bahru

Image
The biggest and most grand restaurant in Kota Bahru is this Restoran Wau. By occupying 3 shop lots, they are serving all the famous local Malay food.  Very elegant design in this restaurant with wi-fi enabled. Jagung Cincau Ais @RM4.00 - ordinary flavored syrup corn drinks with expensive price. Nasi Goreng Wau @RM8.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - It is exactly like Nasi USA. Not a bad food but in the end I can't swallow anymore because it is too dry. Overall, it is an commercialized local restaurant but does not serve Nasi Beriyani. I thought a specialized local food restaurant should have Nasi Beriyani somehow but it does not exist in their menu. Pretty disappointed. Total Damage: RM12.00 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Moderate Recommended?: Yes if you have no other options Restoran Wau PT. 119, Tingkat Bawah, Seksyen 9, Jalan Tanjung Semerak 15000 Kota Bahru Kelantan Tel: 09-7489333 Busines...

Restoran Kg. Kulim, Wakaf Bahru

Image
We have waited for an hour for our food at Restoran Kg. Kulim. Even this little girl finally had her very late dinner. This place is introduced by one of my customer at Kota Bahru. Honestly, it is really hard to find other good food apart of Malay food. This restaurant is opened by a Thai. Even though they are Thai, having a pot of rice like this is still a Malay tradition in it. Chicken @RM27.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 4/5 - This restaurant specialty is their chicken because their chicken is they rear it their own so which is consider as kampung chicken. When it is a kampung chicken, without a doubt, the meat is very tender and delicious. You like it or not, they will prepare a whole chicken for you once you ordered this dish. They will not keep the chicken refrigerated to maintain the freshness. Beluk Asam Pedas @RM15.00 Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - You can fill a lot of r...

Wat Maisuwankiri, Tumpat

Image
You may think Wat Photivihan is the best temple around because of its 40 metres long "sleeping Buddha". You are wrong. Now it is easily being substituted by Wat Maisuwankiri which is so grand! There are a lot of great architectures in here and they are still building it! Wat Maisuwankiri also knwon as "dragon boat" by the locals and this is the head of the boat. There are a pond circling the whole boat with fishes inside. The fishes will follow you no matter where you are going. They seem to know you will give them food. This is the rear view of the dragon boat. The whole construction cost RM300,000 and the funds are from Buddhist Association from Malaysia and Thailand and some are from public donation. Let's get inside the "dragon boat" and see what is inside. It is a prayer area but this is not the main hall.  Awesome structure and every single design is very detail and appealing. Great craftsmanship which is good to see...
