Restoran Seafood Sim-Sim, Sandakan

Image
After the bad experience at Restoran Ocean King Seafood , I just can't give myself up to find a better seafood restaurant to replace my disappointment. So I have found Restoran Seafood Sim-Sim. This restaurant is having the same concept which is built above the sea water so called Kelong style. There are two similar restaurants here which is called Restoran Seafood Sim-Sim 88 and it is located on the right of this restaurant. This is the Restoran Seafood Sim-Sim 88 which is pretty fancy and very well decorated. According to the local, this restaurant is just looks good but the food is below par. Well, I do believe so since I already mentioned before that fancy restaurant is meant for tourist only. However when I reached there, I saw their fishes display like in the wet market. I was expecting them to be alive in the aquarium. Even their other seafood especially the crabs are so skinny! I was pretty disappointed with this restaurant at that time until I said it out str

About Sandakan specialty, I am always proud to introduce this noodle stall which is located at The Mile 1 1/2 Market. Their noodle is so special enough which you will not find it at Klang Valley. It is a very small stall which they only have two oblong tables which are linked together. We all seat together with other customers in a long bench which is so similar like our school days. The master behind this delicious noodle at work! Teh-C in glass is something which you just have to order no matter where you are at Sandakan. Prawn Dumplings with Mee Hoon @RM2.70 Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 3/5 - The mee hoon is not the ordinary one which is off the shelf. This is their handmade mee hoon accompany with delicious handmade BIG prawn dumplings or known as wan tan. Unlike in Klang Valley where most of the stalls served a stingy portion of wantan in it. It does not need to study a rocket science to know a restaurant which is meant to bait the tourist but somehow I still ended up in there. The place is called Restoran Ocean King Seafood. Pretty frustrated for me at that time. Very nice red carpet ready to bait you in. This restaurant is built on top of the sea. They have their own "Kelong" type of aquarium to rear their own fishes and other sea creatures. Look at their fish is so real big! I always never get to order fish because fish is just too big for us who always having two pax to dine all the time. Sea snails which later you will see them on my plate. Today I will share another quite special and unique dessert which is available in Sandakan only (as far as I know). This dessert is available at Sweets Tick Beans. While the special dessert is called Lai Lou Fa or in direct translation into English is known as "Old Milk Flower" . Yeah...it did sound weird but never mind, the most important is the dessert itself. Not very fancy type of dessert shop is always have a better quality inside. Can you see this one normal 22" shop has been divided into three? Yes, it turns out to be this small. Actually, they do provide a "mini van stall" service where it goes from door to door. Lai Lou Fa @RM2.50 Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Very milky taste and unique jelly which is pretty delicious! Worth to try especially the super hot sun at Sandakan.
