Getting to Malapascua Island

Image
Malapascua Island is a very small island which is located at the north of Cebu. It is a dream location for an avid divers who are fond of larger sea creatures such as Thresher Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks and Manta Ray,  Getting to Malapascua Island may be tricky but most of the resorts that you book at Malapascua will have airport transfer service straight to your resort which will cost not exceeding PHP5000/pax/way. If you are arriving late, additional PHP500/pax will be added on. This kind of price tag for me is way too expensive. So I chose the adventurous way. Do read on if you are having the same mindset too! First of all, if your flight reached Cebu airport before 12.00pm, you will be able to make it to the Malapascua Island on the same day. Otherwise, you would have to stay in a guesthouse at Maya Port for a night which may cost you from PHP500 onwards. However, my recommendation is to overnight at Cebu and take a half day tour around the Cebu city before you leave on the

Koyaku Japanese Dining & Grill @Taman Desa

Image
Just landed from Malapascua Island and got a quick catch up with my old buddy, Ann Jee. We have known each other for more than 10 years but surprisingly we never had Japanese cuisine together yet. Since I got to know there is a new opening Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood, without any prior research, I introduced Ann Jee to this restaurant which is known as Koyaku Japanese Dining & Grill. This is their second branch in Taman Desa where the main branch is at Shah Alam. They opened 2 restaurants within a year which is pretty quick for a Japanese restaurant. I think the owner is a big fan of Astro Boy. It was first known as Mighty Atom in Japan in 1959 before being recognized as Astro Boy in overseas. It was started from a manga before becoming the first popular animated Japanese television series that embodied the aesthetic that later became familiar worldwide as anime. If you do not know about Astro Boy, it is about a story of an android was created by a professor t

The Apartment @The Curve

It has been quite a while since my last visit at The Apartment restaurant. A lot of changes since then so here I am to try it out again with their new menu selection. If you are a fan of A&W root beer, F&N Sarsi or Frost Classic Root Beer like me, you have to try this original Bickford's Sarsaparilla @RM15.05. This is the true root beer with authentic taste of sarsaparilla which you would never taste like before. Wild Mushroom Soup @RM15.05 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Thick, creamy and full of mushroom soup richness in it which is enough to pamper your desire over a mushroom soup. It would be better if they let us to do the peppering ourselves. I tasted too much pepper in it sometimes which has covered up the real mushroom taste. Mussels and Clams with Ciabatta Bread in creme fraiche & white wine @RM29.05 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - You can choose either clam

Marmalade Cafe @Bangsar Village II

It has been 3 years and I am glad that I able to celebrate my god daughter's birthday without fail. She is really a gem in my heart. Since she is getting older every year, I am trying my best to give her unforgettable birthday celebration to her. I have come across with many places with exciting events for celebrating birthday for the kids. However, she is just 3 years old. So not too much things that she can do yet. Therefore, I rather to keep it simple for now and keep the fancy idea in the future. In the end, I decided to dine at Marmalade which is located inside the Bangsar Village II. This cafe is very colorful and the staffs are friendly too. They were kind enough to store my ice cream cake for us and they do allow outside cake even though they do have their own cake themselves. The highlight of this restaurant is they own a small playroom to excite the kids. When my god daughter saw this corner, she totally forgot about her food. Too tempting. If you do not hav

Restoran Goon Wah, Kuchai Lama

A lot of hidden good food in Kuchai Lama and one of them is Restoran Goon Wah. For the past 18 years, Restaurant Goon Wah has been delighting locals and foodies alike from its first outlet in Taman Kuchai Lama, with its unique menu, high quality produce and efficient service. Founded by husband and wife team, Mr and Mrs Lee, Restaurant Goon Wah specialises in making its famous XO Claypot Fish Head Noodles, prepared with fish imported from New Zealand. This delicacy, together with Goon Wah’s other delectable original dishes, is guaranteed to bring us unparalleled enjoyment and satisfaction. Established in 1997, Goon Wah has since grown to occupy three shop lots at its original site. Their other branches are at Damansara Jaya and Genting Highland. I was at their main branch which you can see it was already full house by 12.00pm. You are advised to come early to avoid disappointment and also hunting for a parking space. There were some tables are reserved which I believe they do acc
