Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar @The Gardens Mall

Image
After I tried my first Tacos at Lucky 13 Diner@Singapore , I decided to survey for an authentic Mexican restaurant which I come to this Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar at The Gardens Mall. Not many people there as I have expected because the Mexican wave has not really hit the Malaysian yet. At least, it has hit me. So I am trying to explore more in Mexican cuisine. Another reason is after meeting Jerome and Elise  whom had given me a little knowledge about the Mexican cuisine. Quesadilla Mixed Seafood @RM34.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - It is a Mexican Pizza so just work with your hands. I really like the tangy prawn, fish and fresh squid in it. The tortilla is not too thick or too thin. It is just nice enough to make sure you are having more of the delicious seafood rather than the flour. A tortilla is a type of thin flatbread made from finely ground wheat flour.  There are 3 different sauces accompany together with this.  Tac

Lemon Garden Cafe @Shangri-La Hotel

Image
I am really surprise that a five star hotel like Shangri-La Hotel KL has very few selection of restaurants in the hotel on Sunday for lunch. What is left are the Shang Palace , Zipangu Japanese Restaurant and this Lemon Garden Cafe which served buffet. I am not into buffet so no choice I opt for an ala-carte meal here. I determined to have my lunch here because I am a Prestige member which I can enjoy 50% discount in all restaurants in the Shangri-la Hotel KL. The wait is quite long so we are served with these delicious bread. You can refill again once you are finished if you want. Cheese & Ham Fettucine Carbonara @RM34.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - This is a very delicious pasta with hot creamy and milky carbonara. That's how a carbonara should be. Chicken Fettucine with Pesto Sauce @RM34.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - A little too oily and dry. Raspberry Chocolate D

Omakase Lunch @Sushi Hinata

Image
This is my first ever Omakase Lunch in a Japanese Restaurant. This is the branch of the famous Sushi Hinata at Nagoya Nishiki. Using the same name, they opened another branch at St. Mary Residences. All their seafood is freshly import air-flown either on Tuesday or Friday. Even their chefs are import from Japan too.  This is the imported chef, Mr. Oritsuki Hideaki who is just around for 4 months but he has already successfully build a 20 long years in becoming a Japanese chef. He prefers to be addressed as Oritsuki-san. Oh, by the way..."Omakase" means leave it to him in English which means you are letting him to come out with any types of sushi or shashimi to surprise you. Of course, you can request for anything special you wish to try. They claimed that the best wasabi is made from "True wife Japanese horseradish" from Shizuoka which is known as a leading district that produce horseradish. It has sweetness in it to become a companion to taste together wi

Restoran Makanan Laut Lau Heong, Bandar Baru Sentul

Image
This is my first time dining at Sentul and glad to know this great Chinese restaurant which is known as Restoran Makanan Laut Lau Heong. This is the crowd at 6.00pm on Sunday. Crazy right? Let you see from another angle. They just own one shop lot but seems like owning an extra 4 parking space but still they are people standing and waiting for their seat including me! Curry Fish Head @RM25.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - This is their signature. You can choose a normal fish meat or a fish head like this. The curry is not really spicy at all. It contains more coconut milk taste than the curry itself. The fragrance of the curry and the coconut milk work perfectly. I can smell it before it is served. The fish heads are soft, tender, fresh and delicious. Highly recommend to everyone to try. Ginger Squid and Prawn @RM18.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 4/5 - Hardly taste the ginger but what makes me

Kedai Makan Sek Me Choy, Salak Selatan

Image
The first time I had my first black pepper Bak Kut Teh was at Sandakan. I never know there is one at Kuala Lumpur. I got to know it from Axian from his TV Programme, "Taste with Jason". The name of the restaurant is Kedai Makan Sek Me Choy. Even they have a space of three shop lots, their seats are still fully occupied. In the past, they were doing mining business. This is their old mining machine which they still keep it very well. Vegetable Rice @RM2.00 - You should try their vegetable which is very tasty. It is just cost RM1.00 more than their normal white rice. Black Pepper Bak Kut Teh Claypot @RM44.00 + Bean Curd @RM3.00 + YouTiao (small)@RM4.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - This is their signature dish which is catered for four. A very different from the common herbal type of Bak Kut Teh. You will taste a very rich black pepper fragrance in this soup. Very delicious. Yes, I have to admit it is a little spicy bu

Restoran Yu Ai, Segambut

Image
A simple restaurant like this is selling a very expensive seafood noodle. This restaurant is known as Restoran Yu Ai. Everyone at Segambut knows about this restaurant not just because of their food being expensive but rumored to be very delicious too.  The moment we are at the entrance we can feel the great heat from this area. They are cooking all the seafood noodles at extreme heat. Tomyam Seafood Maggi Noodle (small) @RM17.00 Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 2/5 Taste: 0/5 Price: 1/5 Overall: 1/5 - OMG! This is the most horrible tomyam noodle that I ever taste and it costs me a bomb! The tomyam flavor is just pure seasoning flavor only. I think they steal the seasoning packet from the Maggi Tomyam. I wonder have they even tried their own food?? They have another which is a curry version which I guess from the Maggi Curry seasoning packet as well. Clear Soup Seafood Vermicelli (small) @RM17.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Clear s
