Sing Chiong Restaurant, Bekenu
Wet Noodle Fresh Prawn @RM18.00 |
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 2/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Recommended by everyone that this is a must order dish because of their fresh prawns. The prawns are good but the noodles are too salty!!! Either this is the way the make it or they accidentally put too much salt.
Steamed Tutu Fish in Soy Sauce @RM32.00 |
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - The meat is so sweet and delicious. It is really a must try dish. But for a hardly 400g fish already cost RM32.00 is really too expensive.
When you are at the outskirt, you really cannot complain much seriously. To have a food quality like this, it is consider acceptable already. At least you got to try their Tutu fish, so that you know how do they taste like. Other than that, set your expectation low. You will not disappointed. For me, my only comment about the restaurant is their price is just too expensive in my opinion since they are located in an outskirt.
When I keep mentioning the word "outskirt", it is really outskirt because even my GPS failed to function when I was there. So in the end I can't really pinpoint the exact location of this restaurant. However, I will try to guide you through words here:
1) Bekenu is on your left when you are travelling from Miri. So if you are coming from Niah, it should be on your right.
2) Once you made the turn, go in straight for about 10 minutes to see a small village where you will see shops on your right.
3) Once you meet the first hump, turn left and start asking someone about where is "Sing Chiong Restaurant". It is very famous there, not only to the Chinese but other non-Chinese knows it as well.
4) Please take note that do not try to have your dinner like what I did in this restaurant. The road back to either Niah or Miri is just too dangerous. The Jalan Sungai Saeh road is very bumpy and you really feel like riding in a roller coaster track. Addition to that, there are no street lights. Do visit during other sessions than dinner.
Total Damage: RM56.00
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Food Serving Speed: Slow
Recommended?: Yes for their Tutu fish at least.
