Welcome Seafood Restaurant (Town Branch), Kota Kinabalu

If you are coming to Kota Kinabalu but not trying their seafood here, that means your whole trip is meaningless. Look at the poeple here. All tables are occupied, tourists and locals are flocking in here non-stop. This place is the well-known Welcome Seafood Restaurant. I have introduced this restaurant before at another branch which is further away from the town at Penampang. This is their another branch which is cater to the tourist because it is near the town area.
Without further ado, let's start select your desire seafood for tonight. Basically, you have to come over here yourself to pick your own seafood and order them.
Once you choose your desire seafood, they will weight them for you and tell you the price. If you are happy with the price, you just proceed with how to cook them. They will give you a few suggestions and you just choose either one of them.
This is the first time I see how they keep their Mantis Prawn. According to the waiter, it is safer for them from getting cut by the Mantis Prawn when they are trying to catch them.
Even though lobster got no GST charges but they are still too costly to eat. This lobster already cost more than RM400.00.
I still prefer my favorite crab which is what I can afford. They got 3 types of crab available here which are the flower crab, blue crab and king crab. I chose 3 pieces of king crab which cost me RM20/kg.

Overall: 4/5 - Buttered style is the highly recommended style for a crab. This is the wet version of butter crab. There are dry version which is not so tasty because the savory butter gravy is so scrumptious which you will definitely dip in the crab meat in it before entering your mouth. The fragrance is absolutely indefinable. However, I find it the butter crab at Penampang branch is better. Maybe because they got way too many patrons here. That is why the their standard is vary.

Sambal Squid @RM18.00++

Taste: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - It may not look appealing but once I took a bite of it, I no longer care how it looks, I just want to take the second piece even before I have not swallow the one that was still inside my mouth. That is how good it is. The sambal is spicy enough to entice your taste bud which makes you feel very appetizing. That's why I can go for more.

Steamed Prawn @RM35.00++

Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - When prawns are fresh, you do not have to cook any fancy style. You just steamed them and eat it together with the soy sauce. As simple as that to give you the sweetness and freshness of the prawns to the fullest. Another scrumptious dish which I still can remember the taste as if it was still inside my mouth now.

Oyster Soup @RM13.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - A simple oyster in a soup can immersed out an incredible seafood freshness in the whole soup. You will definitely forgive them for making this soup so simple after you had a sip of it. A total incredible soup! By the way, the soup is from a larger bowl before it is distributed to a smaller bowl like this.

Overall, I am really happy with my dining experience in Welcome Seafood Restaurant as usual. I never fail not to visit this restaurant when everytime I come here. They are selling fresh seafood with excellent culinary skill. The best part is the price is absolutely reasonable even it is located in a tourist spot area. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a best seafood in town. You do not have to survey other seafood restaurants anymore because this is the only one that is going to satisfy your taste bud.
