Kedai Makan Kong Teck, Sandakan

This will be my last post for my Sandakan trip. I hope you enjoy it and I know some of you have started yelling at me to show some Klang Valley post instead. Well, you are going to have it tomorrow. As for now, let me do a finale for my trip at Sandakan with another local signature dish which they are popular with their fish ball, fish paste and almost everything is about fish. The place is called Kedai Makan Kong Teck.

虾腐 - It is a prawn paste
鱼腐 - This is the fish paste
鱼卷 - Fish roll
鱼交 - Fish wantan (top) and  鱼滑 - Fish Dumplings (bottom)
Basically how you order is to pick any of those above toppings on your favorite noodle available here. They will just prepare the rest.

Overall: 4/5 - I really like their 老鼠粉 which also known as Silver Needle Noodles. I was told it is handmade by themselves. The taste almost like what I had the Hakka Mee @Wai Sek Kai. As for my toppings, I love fish paste the most and I dislike the fish roll which has a vegetable in it which carries the bitter taste. I can't recall what is the name for the vegetable.

Overall: 4/5 - The Kuey Tiau is the most hot selling one at this restaurant. We took the last portion. The Kuey Tiau indeed is very delicious. Really love both the Kuey Tiau and the Silver Needle Noodle.

Overall: 4/5 - This is the vermicelli mee which is another fantastic noodle to choose from. But I still prefer the Kuey Tiau and the Silver Needle Noodle.

I am so glad that even before my flight, I still able to eat a wonderful local delicacies. Truly splendid experience I have through out my days at Sandakan. I really enjoy every single bit of it. Of course there are some disappointing food but I had the best of them in the end. Alright, let's get back to KL and continue with my food feast there.

Sports Shooting Club Hatyai (SSC)

Most of people think if you travel to Hatyai and not visiting their temples, you are just wasting your time at Hatyai. As for my personal opinion, if you come to Hatyai and did not go to Sports Shooting Club (SSC) Hatyai to experience the shooting experience with a real gun, I think you are not just wasting your time at Hatyai but you are wasting your time being a human. You only live once and there is no better way to understand these guns than coming over to SSC.   Their gun selections are enough to satisfy your urge. From rifle, pistols, revolvers to shotguns. You would be surprised that their rifle is the cheapest. The price is stated from 890 baht nett for a 15 rounds.  I have tried the rifle, beretta and this Smith and Wesson 4506 .45 ACP. This 45 is my favorite among all with 50m shooting range and 8+1 capacity. One of the most expensive gun to rent here. Basically you are shooting at the target paper like this. Champ's Bowling Centre, Sandakan

Not really much entertainment in Sandakan even though they are just beside the sea. No nice beach for water activities and the nearest island like Pulau Selingan and Turtle Island are about 90 minutes away. As for the town itself, basically is this bowling centre called Champ's which has a very nice and good condition bowling alley, bowling shoes and bowling bowls if to compare with bowling centres like in KL.  Not very big at all for their bowling centre which only has 12 lanes. Their shoes look so new! Here is a demonstration on how to bowl. Looks pro...I wonder how is the end result. So what do guys think? Is it a strike? They have a lounge here as well. And a cafe too! The price of the bowling is cost at RM4.80 per game per pax. We went at their most peak hours so their price basically has not much different than our KL City price. Bao Seng Durian Farm, Balik Pulau

Have you ever stay in a Durian Farm before? No? At Bao Sheng Durian Farm, you can do it! This 6.7 acres durian farm has been established in Balik Pulau since 1959. It really took them full 60 years to get the fruit of their hard work. Their villa is well equipped with air-con, hot shower and LCD TV with hundreds of Blu-Ray quality movies in it! They have existing queen size or king size bed and extra bed can be requested. To get close and personal with the King of Fruit...the accommodation charges will be Deluxe Villa is charged at RM280/night and standard villa will cost you RM180/night. Merlion Park, Singapore

Driving in Singapore is really a pain especially the traffic congestion, parking hunting and speed cameras alert which is seems like everywhere. As for parking, weekdays parking is like vampire sucking all your money out from your wallet when the clock keeps ticking. Not just parking but their ERP toll is sucking the money out of your Autopass card too. However, I have realized that the best days to travel to Singapore is on weekends and especially on Sunday. ERP toll is free on Sundays. Parking rate are cheaper on Sundays and there are places are free parking too. Not much cars and peoples on the street on Sundays. Sunday is just perfect day at Singapore! Of course, if you plan to eat their buffets, Sunday will be not a suitable day as it will be super expensive. The first time I had my first black pepper Bak Kut Teh was at Sandakan. I never know there is one at Kuala Lumpur. I got to know it from Axian from his TV Programme, "Taste with Jason". The name of the restaurant is Kedai Makan Sek Me Choy. Even they have a space of three shop lots, their seats are still fully occupied. In the past, they were doing mining business. This is their old mining machine which they still keep it very well. Vegetable Rice @RM2.00 - You should try their vegetable which is very tasty. It is just cost RM1.00 more than their normal white rice. Kota Kinabalu doesn't have huge hawker center like you will see in Peninsular Malaysia or Kuching but I have to reckon that the best hawker center in Kota Kinabalu is in Kedai Kopi Lotus. Kedai Kopi Lotus themselves do serve their own food which was very terrible and beyond edible state. So do not eat anything from this restaurant. You just pick the stalls beside this restaurant. There are 4 stalls which I will introduce one by one to you but the only stall which will not be introduced is the stall which is selling Guo Tie ( a kind of dumplings) -  not my favorite. The best and the most popular stall of all is this chicken wing stall. Everyone is there lining up for them either taking away or dining there. You may need to wait for 15-20 minutes for it. Have you seen a food court which is as huge as this? They really have 101 stalls in there and that's why it is called Premier 101 Food Court. In Kuching, there are other 2 food courts running a similar style like this. It is very common here and it you to explore them.  Seafood Kuey Tiau @RM4.50 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 4/5 - This kuey tiau is really must try! The "wok hei" is just perfect even though they ran out of oysters. My sister does not eat oysters anyway so it is perfect for her. So she had 80% of it and I am happy she did. Everyone knows the famous Shihlin is a local night market a.k.a pasar malam at Taiwan. Approximately 4 years ago, Shihlin becomes a company and brought into Malaysia as the locals just love the foods from pasar malam. The main products are XXL Crispy Chicken, Oyster Mee Sua, Tempura, Sweet Plum Potato, Egg Crepe and Rice Box. The place for them to fry XXL Crispy Chicken, Tempura and Sweet Plum Potato. No individual table available. It is just a long table at the side which is same like Shihlin @Taiwan.
