Cantaloupe Sky Dining @Troika

Troika is a place with lots of luxury dining restaurant such as Kampachi and Cantaloupe. Actually Cantaloupe is categorized under Troika Sky Dining. There are 3 others restaurants in this group which is located at the same floor. The other restaurants are known as Fuego serves South American cuisine, Strato serves Italian cuisine and Claret is a wine tasting restaurant.
The moment you have reached the 23rd floor, you will be seated in the lobby no matter which restaurant you are going to dine in. You have the option to order some drinks while waiting for your seat to be ready. Basically you are escorted the moment you are stepping out from the lift.
If you are dining in couple, you will be most likely placed at the balcony where you will have a great city landscape view.
If you are dining in a group of more than two persons, you will be seating inside the restaurant.
This is the largest table available at Cantaloupe. It is suitable for big family or a small company dinner. You are encouraged to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
After the meal, you are allowed to bring you drinks over to the balcony for some private moment with great scenery in front of you.
This is how it is look like inside the restaurant. The design is exquisite and very high class. Perfect place for a fine dining.
This is what you will be seeing by looking down from 23rd floor. Awesome view nonetheless.
What is the main highlight of this restaurant is this view. Petronas Twin Tower and KL Tower view. I will show to you 3 different views at 3 different time starting with this daytime view.
This is the dawn view where you can see the sun slowly setting down between the towers. Truly spectacular scene.
Lastly, the night view. It is no longer able to be explained in words.
There are other buildings around the popular landmark which is worth taking note too.
The night view is truly the best view that this restaurant can brings to you. This is the view that's best to accompany with your romantic dinner.
Complimentary delicious bread as usual like any other fine dining restaurants. For your information, Cantaloupe serves modern European cuisine which means their western meal is a little different from the ordinary ones that we used to know of.
This is something extras which other restaurants may not have. This is a special complimentary starter that is specially made for the customer based on their preference. Do take note that their portion is small enough for just one person to eat. Not really recommended for sharing. Please do not get deceived by my photos thinking their portion is quite big.
For example, my wife is pregnant. They make this specially for her which is suitable for a pregnant woman to eat. So if you are a vegetarian, can't eat any beef or allergic to certain food, please do inform the waiter there before you start ordering your food.
Lobster @RM135.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Noisette Butter Poached Nova Scotia Lobster, Pickles, New Zealand Spinach, Crisp Fried Beef Tendon and Green Chartreuse Emulsion. That's the content in this dish. The lobster is sweet, tangy and fresh. Not a very big lobster which I guess is around 100gm only. Beef trotters are the freshest selected which then stews and braises and slowly cajoles gelatinous life into the tendons.

Foie Gras Terrine @RM95.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - Must order dish! Slow Poached Montbazillac Cured Foie Gras Terrine with Melon Jelly, Orgeat Mousse, Pink Pepper Florentine and Walnut Country Bread. Do not directly eat the foie gras terrine because it is a little salty. The foie gras is use to spread over the bread and eat. Once you spread over the bread, scoop some orgeat mousse and cut a tiny piece of melon jelly on the bread and eat it. The taste is sensational beyond words to describe. It is so fragrance which seems like bringing me to another world. It is truly eye opening for me that food can be evolved into this extend. You need to try it yourself and do like what I did to understand what I am trying to say here.

Chicken @RM95.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 2/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 - Half a Chicken; the Breast Brined, Seared and Served with Green Olive Tapenade, the Skin as a Crisp, the Leg Boned, Rolled and Stuffed with Liver Mousse, the Gizzard Confit Fried Crisp. Not the chicken breast fault for the low score. The meat is well done and delicious. The problem is on the gizzard confit. Too salty until the extend of numbing my whole tongue and spoiling my taste bud. It took quite a long time for me by keep drinking water to clean it off. I have told the waiter about it but nothing is done by him. He acted like it is supposed to be like that. Something is wrong for me in this dish.

Fillet Mignon @RM120.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - Must order and must be medium rare! Flash Fried Red Wine Marinated Fillet Mignon, Slow Cooked Vegetables, Porcini Mushrooms and Parsley Noodles. By just having a small piece of the beef, start counting to three at the moment you put into your mouth. It will surely gone within 3 seconds and the red wine fragrance together with the juice inside it started to spill out around your mouth which makes you say the magic word, "Yummy!"

Frozen Chocolate Mousse @RM45.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Frozen Manjari Mousse, Dehydrated Chocolate Sponge, Guanaja Crèmeux, Whipped Jivara Ganache, Rum & Vanilla Sphere, Chocolate Crumble, Morello Cherry Sorbet. This is a very creative dessert which may looks kind of messy. You got bitter taste from the manjari mousse, sour taste from the cherry sorbet, sweet taste from the chocolate sponge and back to bitter again from the rum. It has done all a dessert should be tasted like.

Overall, I recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for a romantic place for a special celebration with their partner. I believe with my photos above already shown the spectacular view that you can enjoy here. Moreover, the food are top class (for most of it) and their service is remarkable at the certain extend. I do hope they at least change the chicken for me or do not charge me for the chicken. If they do not believe me, they should taste the gizzard themselves. I can assure that they will spit it out right away. That's something they should be improving in terms of their service.
Total Damage: RM605.50
Ambiance: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Food Serving Speed: Moderate
Will I Revisit?: No but recommended
