Maiu Japanese Restaurant @The Place, Damansara Perdana

Maiu Japanese Restaurant has replaced Umai-ya Japanese Restaurant at Damansara Perdana. However, this is not a latest news anymore. For a avid Japanese cuisine lover like me should have known that Umai-ya has moved to Damansara Utama. After dined in Maiu Japanese Restaurant, I got the feeling they served the same food like Umai-ya too! Even their chit sheet also looks the same. I wonder if they are sisters company. If anyone knows about this, please do confirm my claim here. Thanks. =)

I am a bit too early for the dinner so not many customers around yet. The customers started to swarming in after 7.00pm. Mostly are pre-booked customers and I am encouraging you to do so especially for the weekend. As usual, since there are so many dishes that we have taken. I will just cut short my rating scheme.

Another great experience of ala-carte buffet that I had at Maiu Japanese Buffet Restaurant. However, there are some disappointment especially the sushi. None of them is nice. I feel that there is something wrong with the rice but can't really tell what is wrong. My wild guess will be too much vinegar. This is a great daily ala-carte buffet which is available in Klang Valley apart of Kikyo Japanese Restaurant at Puchong. Slightly more expensive that Kikyo Japanese Restaurant which is at RM38.80++ but they have dropped in price from previously RM48.80++ after they have taken out the bottomless beer, unagi and tako sashimi from their menu.

Total Damage: RM85.35

Food Serving Speed: Fast
Will I Revisit?: Not as frequent as Umaiya

Overall: 3/5 - It is also known as their signature Symphony of Starters, which takes you across the breadth of Indochinese cuisine with Vietnamese shrimp crystal rolls, lemongrass prawns, Cambodian-style deep-fried shrimp cakes and minced chicken on cinnamon sticks. All served with a variety of piquant sauces. The plate is just nice for 2 pax but the price is too expensive for that small portion.

Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - If you think that coconut soup should be a milky soup, then you are wrong. This is a chicken tomyam clear soup with coconut meat in it. Very delicious and creative way to make it. The coconut meat is the highlight of the entire soup. It just gave the soup an extra coconut fragrance in it and of course, they are edible. Do not worry, the soup is not too spicy.

Magnum Cafe @IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

Overall: 4/5 - It contains of cashew meringue, Mascarpone cream, honey balsamic cream served with white chocolate dipped vanilla Magnum topped with freeze dried raspberries and fresh strawberries. My suggestion is to mix them all together including the ice cream itself otherwise by eating the ice cream alone will be too sweet. Once you mixed them all together, the magic comes. The sensational taste of creamy, crunchy, a little sourish kick and sweetness combining all together to create a wonderful ice cream dessert. Definitely is a must order dessert when you are there.
