Tanzini Upperdeck @ G Hotel

Tanzini restaurant is located inside G Hotel at Level 28. This restaurant divided into two distinctive sectionswhich are Tanzini Level 28 is serving Italian and modern European fusion menu (set dinner and a la carte) while the Upperdeck is our fine dining with a touch of French (set dinner only). Tanzini Level 28 opens for Lunch and Dinner while Upperdeck is dinner only. The picture above is the Upperdeck. I have tried to book a seat here for 2 times because they always run company events at this section. Finally, I succeeded in my third attempt.
Their sofa seats are really huge and they recommend us to sit together on the same sofa. Their dinner set always change regularly. You might not see the same menu like below after 2 - 3 months from now. This idea is brilliant to have their very own loyal customers to visit them regularly to taste something different than before. They have 3 types of different dinner courses which are Expose Menu (3-course) @RM215++/pax, Explore Menu (5-course) @RM280++/pax and Experience Menu (7-course) @RM350++/pax. The difference is the number of appetizer, soup and main course.
Their complimentary bread was pretty disappointing for a French cuisine. Not warm, not fragrant and not really impressive at all. We have a very high expectation on bread especially a 5 star restaurant.
Each of us ordered their Expose Menu which consists of 1 appetizer or soup, 1 main course and 1 dessert. Their selection is extremely limited. You do not have luxurious choices to make. They only have 3 types of appetizer, 1 type of soup, 3 types of main course and 2 types of dessert to choose from.
Scallop from Hokkaido, Japan
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Overall: 4/5 - Consists of Seared Hokkaido Scallop, “Truffle of the Sea”, Chicken Emulsion, Matcha Nori Streusel. The scallop is really so sweet and fresh by itself but the devilish truffle sauce has enhanced the taste of it into a whole new level. It is an extremely delicious dish. You would wish the portion to be bigger.

Whelk from Bordeaux, France
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 1/5
Overall: 2/5 - Consists of Whelk Carpaccio, Seaghetti in Thai Dried Shrimp, Smoked Cod Roe. Seaghetti means the normal seaweed that is presented like a spaghetti. It is just too salty which makes your whole tongue numb! It is very disappointing dish. I do not see the highlight of this dish at all but saltiness.

Intermission - Sorbet. A great savior for me to clean the saltiness on my tongue.
Red Mullet from Brittany, France
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 - Consists of Oven Finished Red Mullet, Pickled Beet, Red Mullet Essence, Black Quinoa. I can't believe their main course is so small portion which I thought it is their appetizer too. No wonder they have 7 courses which consists of 2 main courses in their Experience Menu which cost at RM350++/pax. As for the taste, nothing impressive about this small piece of fish meat. It is a little salty but not as salty as the seaghetti.

Blackmore's Wagyu from Vistoria, Australia
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Overall: 4/5 - Consists of Saikyo Miso Marinated 600 Days Grain Fed Wagyu, Carrot & Cucumber Slaw, Natural Jus. This steak is around 50gram only even my picture might shown it quite big to you. This is one of the best dish for that night. The steak is made medium rare and the texture of it is simply delightful. The majestic part of it is you enjoy the true beef meat with a little spices needed to enhance the taste of it. You would wish this in a bigger portion.

Earth
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Consists of Nitro Jerusalem Artichoke Gelato, Hazelnut Sponge, Skins, Dark Muscovado Sugar Floss. The ice cream tastes very unique to me because I haven't experience something like this before. The spongecake is filled with hazelnut fragrance in it which is really delicious. However, I do not see the meaning of these combination. They somehow is good by their own.

Grapefruit Shortcake
Outlook: 5/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - Consists of Grapefruit-Campari Orb, Toasted Almond Cake, Cereal Whipped Dulcey 32%, Mandarins. You need to knock on the Grapefurit-Campari orb before you start to eat. Mix a little with the shortcake to taste it. The grapefruit taste a little too strong for us. It somehow carries a little bitterness in it. However, I love the shortcake. It carries a little crunchy with a delightful almond taste in it.

This is how you knock on it. The inside is empty.
I have been always wanted to be here but somehow I am not very impressed with their menu. I hope they have a better menu with more choices in it after a few months. The ambiance here is truly relax and wonderful. I really enjoy the environment even though there is no spectacular view to appreciate. Overall, I recommended to try this place at least once for the experience but definitely not becoming their regular customer.
Total Damage: RM606.70 (2 pax)
Ambiance: 5/5
