Subak Restaurant, Bukit Lanjan

I find it right now dining with the nature has becoming a trend. People just loves to get away from the busy city and get some fresh air within the woods. Subak restaurant is one of them to deliver such atmosphere for you to enjoy. It is located on top of Bukit Lanjan. Searching for this restaurant can be tricky but nowadays anyone is relying on Waze so this shouldn't be a problem.
The trees are covering this whole restaurant as umbrella. The air is so fresh and chilling. There is no need for a fan or air-con here. However, there is only one issue which is the mosquito. They are pretty annoying and that is what you get in the woods. Their solution to that is to place a mosquito coil under your table. Now you no longer smell the fresh air but the mosquito coil. I would suggest to sit in this area which is brighter and has fan which is better.
They have a lot of seats available here and it is good for company event or a simple gathering. Subak restaurant is serving a fusion cuisine. They do have some well known common western food and at the same time they not forgetting our local delicacies as well.
They have a man made pond here to create some water in the woods. No music can be heard in this restaurant but the sound of the water from this pond. Well, that's how a nature supposed to be like.
The pond is not empty of course. They have few hundreds of Koi fish which comes with all different colors and sizes. \

Overall: 3/5 - Traditional chicken broth with soup paste, and coconut milk served with cubes rice, bean sprout, shredded chicken, potato cutlets and spicy soy- chili. The portion is unexpectedly so big and luckily we did not order a soup for each of us. Just this soup alone has already filling us both. All because of the rice cubes in it. As for the taste, usually soto is made from beef broth while this is the first time I had from a chicken broth. Without a doubt a beef broth taste better than chicken but do not erase this soup off yet because they are pretty delicious too. The taste of the chicken essence is quite thick enough to entice your appetite.

Overall: 3/5 - It is filled with vegetables and minced chicken served with home made garlic scented sweet chili sauce. I prefer some crunchiness in a popiah instead of something soft inside. Don't get me wrong. The taste is not bad at all. It is just my self preference. Maybe this is the Javanese style.

Overall: 3/5 - My goodness me! The portion is so big! The fried rice is the same like our local famous Nasi Goreng Kampung. I would prefer the fried rice to be more spicy. Overall, it is nothing memorable about this rice.

Overall: 3/5 - It is a pandan chicken served with seaweed white rice and Vegetables Dalcha which you definitely shouldn't miss it. It comes with 4 huge chicken meat wrapped with pandan leaves. The pandan fragrance has already infused inside the chicken. Every bite on the chicken will immersed the sensational pandan fragrance which will makes you wanted to go for more. They really know that you will need at least 4 of them to satisfy your indulgence but the price does not come cheap. Nevertheless, it is definitely a must order dish.

Overall: 3/5 - This is their signature dessert. It is sweet and delightful especially they are not stingy with their sago. Lots of little chewy bites for you to enjoy. A good dessert to end you meal.

Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for at least once to experience dining with the nature. However, I would not revisit this restaurant anymore because of the mosquito. Basically, you wouldn't want to sit around longer in the restaurant because of those annoying insect. You just wish to finish up your food and leave the restaurant in the shortest time possible.

Sports Shooting Club Hatyai (SSC)

Most of people think if you travel to Hatyai and not visiting their temples, you are just wasting your time at Hatyai. As for my personal opinion, if you come to Hatyai and did not go to Sports Shooting Club (SSC) Hatyai to experience the shooting experience with a real gun, I think you are not just wasting your time at Hatyai but you are wasting your time being a human. You only live once and there is no better way to understand these guns than coming over to SSC.   Their gun selections are enough to satisfy your urge. From rifle, pistols, revolvers to shotguns. You would be surprised that their rifle is the cheapest. The price is stated from 890 baht nett for a 15 rounds.  I have tried the rifle, beretta and this Smith and Wesson 4506 .45 ACP. This 45 is my favorite among all with 50m shooting range and 8+1 capacity. One of the most expensive gun to rent here. Basically you are shooting at the target paper like this. Champ's Bowling Centre, Sandakan

Not really much entertainment in Sandakan even though they are just beside the sea. No nice beach for water activities and the nearest island like Pulau Selingan and Turtle Island are about 90 minutes away. As for the town itself, basically is this bowling centre called Champ's which has a very nice and good condition bowling alley, bowling shoes and bowling bowls if to compare with bowling centres like in KL.  Not very big at all for their bowling centre which only has 12 lanes. Their shoes look so new! Here is a demonstration on how to bowl. Looks pro...I wonder how is the end result. So what do guys think? Is it a strike? They have a lounge here as well. And a cafe too! The price of the bowling is cost at RM4.80 per game per pax. We went at their most peak hours so their price basically has not much different than our KL City price. Have you ever stay in a Durian Farm before? No? At Bao Sheng Durian Farm, you can do it! This 6.7 acres durian farm has been established in Balik Pulau since 1959. It really took them full 60 years to get the fruit of their hard work. Their villa is well equipped with air-con, hot shower and LCD TV with hundreds of Blu-Ray quality movies in it! They have existing queen size or king size bed and extra bed can be requested. To get close and personal with the King of Fruit...the accommodation charges will be Deluxe Villa is charged at RM280/night and standard villa will cost you RM180/night. Driving in Singapore is really a pain especially the traffic congestion, parking hunting and speed cameras alert which is seems like everywhere. As for parking, weekdays parking is like vampire sucking all your money out from your wallet when the clock keeps ticking. Not just parking but their ERP toll is sucking the money out of your Autopass card too. However, I have realized that the best days to travel to Singapore is on weekends and especially on Sunday. ERP toll is free on Sundays. Parking rate are cheaper on Sundays and there are places are free parking too. Not much cars and peoples on the street on Sundays. Sunday is just perfect day at Singapore! Of course, if you plan to eat their buffets, Sunday will be not a suitable day as it will be super expensive. The first time I had my first black pepper Bak Kut Teh was at Sandakan. I never know there is one at Kuala Lumpur. I got to know it from Axian from his TV Programme, "Taste with Jason". The name of the restaurant is Kedai Makan Sek Me Choy. Even they have a space of three shop lots, their seats are still fully occupied. In the past, they were doing mining business. This is their old mining machine which they still keep it very well. Vegetable Rice @RM2.00 - You should try their vegetable which is very tasty. Kota Kinabalu doesn't have huge hawker center like you will see in Peninsular Malaysia or Kuching but I have to reckon that the best hawker center in Kota Kinabalu is in Kedai Kopi Lotus. Kedai Kopi Lotus themselves do serve their own food which was very terrible and beyond edible state. So do not eat anything from this restaurant. You just pick the stalls beside this restaurant. There are 4 stalls which I will introduce one by one to you but the only stall which will not be introduced is the stall which is selling Guo Tie ( a kind of dumplings) -  not my favorite. The best and the most popular stall of all is this chicken wing stall. Everyone is there lining up for them either taking away or dining there. You may need to wait for 15-20 minutes for it. Have you seen a food court which is as huge as this? They really have 101 stalls in there and that's why it is called Premier 101 Food Court. In Kuching, there are other 2 food courts running a similar style like this. Everyone knows the famous Shihlin is a local night market a.k.a pasar malam at Taiwan. Approximately 4 years ago, Shihlin becomes a company and brought into Malaysia as the locals just love the foods from pasar malam. The main products are XXL Crispy Chicken, Oyster Mee Sua, Tempura, Sweet Plum Potato, Egg Crepe and Rice Box. The place for them to fry XXL Crispy Chicken, Tempura and Sweet Plum Potato.
