Imperial Duck Restaurant, Kuching

I forgot to mention about the lifestyle for the people at Kuching which has caused the restaurants at Kuching to accommodate to their norm. Most of the restaurants here are opened as early as 6.00am. Don't be amazed! That's their breakfast hour and their lunch hour is 12pm sharp or before. Most of the restaurants will start to packing up when near 2.00pm. If you travel there and looking for good food, you better plan your lunch earlier and do not bother to try after 2.00pm because they most likely will stop selling even though they still have things to sell.

Because I dived earlier on and by the time I get back to the city already after 2.00pm. We hunt for more than an hour for food and in the end we saw this Imperial Duck Restaurant which is opened but has no patrons in their restaurant. I thought they are having a break but I confirming with them, we got a green light. Hooray! This restaurant specialties are their dim sum, duck and soup.

They have this cute piggy red bean bun. I ordered it straight away when I saw them. Look at both them...so alike and cute!!! :D
Steamed Bun with Red Bean @RM3.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - A thick smooth red bean filling inside which is not so sweet and full of red bean taste. Very delicious. But I saw them...I don't feel like eating them. Kinda cruel somehow...oww~~~

Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Mango Cream @RM5.40
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - It is served cold. I really like the sweet mango inside with an adequate amount of cream which is not too sweet. Delicious!

Here you go, my sister is trying to demonstrate how thin is the skin of this dumpling. You won't feel like eating flour.
Imperial Duck Drumstick Noodle @RM9.50
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Since duck is their specialty, I just have to order them and try. The duck meat is really delicious. It is not hard to chew like what some other restaurants served. Apart of that, the crispy duck skin is just irresistible. This is a great duck mee but the price is just too expensive.

Glutinous Rice Dumpling with Black Sesame @RM4.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - This is like mochi with black sesame. It was served cold and the black sesame cream pour into your mouth with just one bite. Very delicious. Not so sweet when the rice dumpling which is tasteless has compensate with each other.

Steamed Egg Yolk Bun @RM3.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - This egg yolk bun is so beautiful with yellow golden color. However, it is not really tasty as I have expected it to be. The egg yolk inside where like paste instead of cream like I used to like to eat at Hee Loi Ton. I do not experience the heavy egg yolk flooding in my mouth in the first bite with this.

A closer look and you can see a little amount of egg yolk paste inside which can't caused a flood.
Shanghai Steamed Pork Dumpling @RM4.50
Outlook: 3/5

Taste: 2/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 2/5 - The skin is just too thick. The soup inside the dumpling was so so only.

Almond Bean Curd with Longan @RM3.80
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 1/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 - I just hate almond dessert. It taste so weird like eating medicine. I do not why I order it that day. I know almond good for skin but this is just not for me.

The dim sum making kitchen area
The chef who is making the duck mee and rice. Their duck is indeed very delicious but just a little too expensive.
This is the location and very much recommended only if you missed Kuching's lunch hour.
