9119 Patisserie Cafe, Kluang

Peek-a-boo...I am back for a while for this posting. I have always wanted to blog about this place which is known as 9119 Patisserie Cafe. It is newly opened last month and bringing a new sense of hype in town. It is something similar like Levain Patisserie & Boulangerie style but still not there yet. I will tell you more why not later on. Anyway, why it is called 9119?

Checking in...nowadays...that's the first thing to do in a restaurant or cafe instead of looking at the menu.
Beverage counter on the right, oven in the centre and some display of their desserts which I only see tiramisu there.
The first feeling I have in this cafe is empty...blank...and some other similar meanings. With having two shops combining together and accommodating over 20+ tables like this in the cafe. I find it they have a pretty high expectation with the response that they are going to have from our locals here. Daring but it is obviously back fire. I was there at 4.00pm on Sunday and it was barely 20% full.

Taste: 2/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 2/5 - Small cup for a price like this. Taste a little too mild which lack of caramel sweetness and coffee taste. Starbuck's Caramel Macchiato is way out class this.

Overall: 3/5 - I like this Chai Milk. It is very unique taste of Indian flavor in it. Haha...a weird way to describe it but that is Chai Milk. You can try to understand what I mean.

Overall: 3/5 - Not really impressing but still okay to order.

Croissant Straight @RM4.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Taste very soft because it is really fresh from oven. They do not have ready made at that hour. So if you missed it, you may need to wait for 19 minutes.

Waffle Honey Butter @RM6.90

Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - You really have to give a full credit for their patisseries. They did it very well which is soft and you don't feel surfeit by eating too much of it. The sad part is always the price and the waiting. If you miss their batch, you need to wait for more than 10 minutes.

Overall: 3/5 - Not bad if looking for a halal tiramisu but I still prefer tiramisu with rum in it.

Overall, their food and drinks I have not much to comment. Maybe a little bit about their patisserie which is required to wait a long time if miss the batch, small in size and expensive. However, I just have to admit that it tastes so good which worth the wait.
About the cafe concept, I feel there is something wrong with their design. A cafe shouldn't look too spacious until we feel it is empty. It gives us lack of security in some sense..in another words we do not feel relax but does not mean a cafe should look crowded which will create lack of privacy.

So I believe they need to sacrifice some spaces for more green stuffs or other decors which is relevant with the cafe concept. Otherwise, by sacrificing a big space to display all their ready made patisserie which will also let their customers to choose what they like to eat. This is a daring move because of over supply which in the end will cause the pastries to be stale and no longer nice to eat. However, since they charged so high, I think they can overcome the lost. So this idea is feasible.

Their menu is...lack of creativity. It is all over the place and we do not even know what is all about. One thing about pastries, cakes and breads are must display all of them out. We got pampered all these while to choose what we like to eat in a bakery shop but we cannot do it in this cafe which may makes us feel uncomfortable and not get used to it. A feeling of something is missing.

Last but not least, it is great to have such cafe around. Hope they can hang on longer but nothing will change if they do not start to change a new strategy.
