Santola Cafe, Kota Kinabalu

A cafe located inside a coffee processing factory, what will you think about their coffee? 100% fresh and natural of course! Without a doubt especially they are using Borneo Liberica Beans which is originated from Tawau and Ranau, incorporated with Brazilian/Columbian Arabica & Indonesian Robusta beans.
They got a coffee school too! Many great baristas are born here. Since it is located in a factory area, you will see a lot of working expats and workers will drop by to take away their delicious coffee to continue with their working day.
The cafe itself is not very big. Just a few tables but it is comfortable enough to give you a space to enjoy your coffee. For your information, they do sell coffee beans in this cafe too. RM19.00++ each. Please take note to separate your dining bill with your coffee beans purchase because they will include the service charge in the whole dining bill inclusive your coffee beans purchase which is unnecessary.
I had my cold mocha which cost me RM12.90++. A similar price like you are going to have in Starbucks but I can assure you that it is way better than Starbucks. The coffee fragrance is still visible in memory after quite sometime. Definitely something which is worth for you to revisit.
Their signature cake is their Carrot Cheese Cake @RM14.00++. Not cheap at all for a piece of cake like this. However I still love the carrot fragrance and the crunchy walnut bites are really the reason why it has becomes their signature cake. I somehow wish they can make a less greasier so that I can fully enjoy the fluffiness of the cake.
Santola Toast @RM4.50++. I feel so blessed that even in Sabah, I got to taste the delicious butter kaya toast. Even in Sabah, they do make a delicious butter kaya toast. In most part of Borneo, it is more known as Roti Kahwin. Kahwin means marriage, This is because one side of the bread is applied with butter and another side is applied with kaya paste and stick them both together as if they are a married couple.
Overall, this is definitely a cafe you should not be missed if you are looking for a nice coffee place for your holiday in Kota Kinabalu. The only concern is getting here is not convenient at all unless you got a hired car or you pay for a taxi. Not a lot of public transport will pass by here.
