Kedai Kopi Yee Fung, Jalan Gaya

Image
Here I am at Kedai Kopi Yee Fung for their famous laksa. I find it very interesting is to see a small country like Malaysia can have different kind of way to make their laksa at each different state. I make my point here to find out how does a Sabah Laksa is actually like. Yee Fung Teh Tarik (cold) @RM2.50 - I like milk but this is just too much milk for me. So here you are the Sabah Laksa which looks like curry noodle to me.  Yee Fung Laksa @RM6.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Not just look but taste exactly like curry noodle. As for the taste, it is real delicious. The rich coconut milk taste with slight curry flavor taste in it. I really do agree the ratio is just right. The only is not right is the price. Overpriced. They have other signature dishes as well which are claypot chicken rice and Ngiu Chap noodle. Overall, it is a good place to try at least once. Total Damage: RM8.50 Ambiance: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Food Se...

White Water Rafting @Kiulu River

Image
After my previous white water rafting experience at Kampar , I just cannot forget the fun and the thrill. This time I continue my addiction over it at Kiulu River, Kota Kinabalu. The cost for this adventure is at RM185.00/pax which is done by the same company that I was with at Kampar River which is Riverbug. I chose them not because they are the cheapest but they have the best customer service that I preferred. There are plenty of cheaper than Riverbug for you to choose from but I cannot guarantee about their customer service. As early as 8.30am, we are picked up and drove for 90 minutes before reaching Kiulu River which is located at the Tamparuli area. We had our safety briefing by the professionals and we have to sign the Liability Release Form. Off we go! There are a total of 3 rafts joining us with average of 5 - 7 people on a raft including the guide. In my experience, there are fun if just only 2 of us and there are different fun if you have 5- 7 people in a raft too....

Upperstar Steak & Chicken Restaurant @Lintas Plaza

Image
First thing to touch down at Kota Kinabalu is looking for a good food. So I went circling around Lintas Plaza and I found a couple of restaurants that are almost full house. Pretty amazing to see how F&B industry in Kota Kinabalu turned out to be this good. One of them is Upperstar Steak & Chicken Restaurant. This is a chain western restaurant which I can almost see at every corner of Kota Kinabalu. I got interested and here I am to check them out. One thing I need to compliment the restaurant is their well design. All their restaurants are having this complicated vintage design but they do look elegant!  The crowd here are continuously flowing like a river. The moment a seat is empty, the next moment there is a group of customers are waiting beside it. There are almost more than 50 tables in this restaurant and they are 99% fully taken. So you can imagine that. I just have to be there to find out why. Brown Cow @RM13.80++. It is a delicious alcoholic drink. T...

HanCook Korean Restaurant, Desa Sri Hartamas

Image
Once again, I had a meeting with my beloved Elayne jie and her family to become our "driver" to take us to our destination. Therefore, I must repay them with a good lunch. The place is Hancook which is a Korean Restaurant. Plenty of side dishes which is quite promising for us but only a few of them are my favorites. Salad with vinegar which is pretty appetizing enough to start our meat feast. Kimchi Jjigae @RM18.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 2/5 - Ordinary stewed Kimchi soup. Very few meat can be found. Just kimchi and tofu. It is better to be served as side dish. As for the taste, it is quite spicy and that's all. This is where to grill their meat. Their original air ventilator is not working.  Samgyupsal @RM28.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Pork belly is still my favorite meat to choose no matter where I go. They are just so delicious. One thing I find that the ...

Vietnam Kitchen @1Utama

Image
Here are my final catch up with Serene Tan at Vietnam Kitchen. I believe everyone will be same like me feel grateful about being in Malaysia which is having different kinds of food around the world assembled in Malaysia. You will never run out of idea what you wish to eat and right now we wish to go to Vietnam for a meal. Avocado Milkshake @RM7.90++ - Not a bad drink to have at all for a smooth and tasty avocado. Prawn Roll @RM6.90++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - I just hate the mint in the roll. Vietnamese cuisine just loves to put mint into their food which I am not really fancy. Lotus Root @RM11.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Plain, ordinary and common but it taste really good. Just the price is not really plain, ordinary and common for such a simple dish like this. Chicken Noodle Set @RM18.90++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 4/5 - This is...

Ri-Yakitori @The Gardens Hotel & Residence

Image
In our third round of catching up business, we finally decided to do a Japanese style which is to eat yakitori and drinking sake. The location is at Ri-Yakitori which is opened inside The Gardens Hotel & Residence. Yakitori means skewered food. It is something like our local famous delicacies, Sate. But in Japanese style, it comes with more than just chicken, beef and mutton. Kamatsuru Nama @RM75.40++ - we preferred our sake is hot and we both pretty like the fruity taste in it. At least, it is acceptable to a lady like Serene Tan. We ordered a set of chicken assorted yakitori which one of it consists of Chicken Breast Yakitori. This set is cost at RM34.80/pax. Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - A little sourish from the tomato sauce which is kinda weird for us but it is still acceptable. Chicken Skin Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Overall: 3/5 - A simple chicken taste but it is grill in a way which is so delicious! Maybe you mig...
