Restoran Makanan Laut Lala Chong Seafood Village, Ara Damansara

I never know there are two Lala Chong Seafood Village restaurant and I didn't even know both of them located at Ara Damansara. Even though they are located at the same area but the main branch is located at Kayu Ara Damansara which is 20 minutes away from here. Same area but not really close because of too many twists and turns road to reach. It was confusing enough to make us lost our way. Some group ended up at the main branch while I was here at the other branch. I am wondering what is their business strategy in opening another branch.
Signature Lala @RM38.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - If you come to this restaurant but you did not order their signature lala, I really do not know why you are here in the first place. It was one of the best lala that I have tasted so far. The lala was so fat, fresh and succulent with rich of flavor from the soup. The soup is full of ginger taste which is spicy but yet satisfying.

Teo Chew Steamed Patin @RM70.00++/kg
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - You will never go wrong if you steamed a fresh Patin fish. The meat is so tender and soft. You do not need to have much effort in chewing.

Special Claypot Chicken (large) @RM30.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - A savory chicken at its best but it is just a little too small to be a large portion. More like a medium portion.

Otak - Otak (medium) @RM30.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - Lack of fresh fish taste and spiciness in it. Just a plain and ordinary one. Nothing special about it at all. Skip this dish.

Fried bun @RM2.00++/pc
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - This is the tastiest, softest and biggest bun I had by far. They do not have a picture to show their bun so I initially thought it should be an ordinary small bun size. So I have ordered a double for each of us and turned out to be this big. But...we can finished them off together with our rice. It was simply amazing especially when you mixed together with the butter milk sauce. They are just perfect combination. This bun is soft as if like pillow in my mouth. If you are a small eater, don't order a rice, just the bun. You will not regret it.

Butter Milk Crab @RM88.00++ (gravy add RM5.00++)
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - The butter milk sauce was superbly good. You will eventually forgotten how sinful it is. Just two things I was not satisfied with it is the meat was a little over cooked and second thing is I have to add RM5.00++ for the gravy. Shouldn't it be when we want to top up only we are charged RM5.00++??? We were being charged before even top up for the gravy. If we do not want the top up, does it mean they will serve the crab without the gravy? Then is that still called Butter Milk Crab???

Sweet & Sour Crabs @RM88.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - The meat was perfect but the gravy wasn't. Sour taste is too strong and hardly can taste any sweetness in it except the ketchup sweetness. Not really a great choice.

Bean Curd Stew Bean Root (medium) @RM25.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - It was average. Edible but not special.

Tuna Paku Pakis (Large) @RM25.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - It is so great to find Paku Pakis in Klang Valley area. Usually I only get to eat this either in Melaka, Sabah or Sarawak. Sabah and Sawarak more commonly serve Midin but there do sell Paku Pakis too. It was delicious and we prefer it to be a little more spicy.

Overall, the food was not bad. Most notably is the Lala, fish and the fried bun. However, doesn't convince me enough to return unless I have sudden crave of them again. Note: The price below is the price of 18 pax for two tables. So it is double the price that is stated above.

Total Damage: RM1048.35
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Food Serving Speed: Fast
Will I Revisit?: No
