Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul @IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

Image
The famous cendol from Penang has establishing their chain restaurant adventure over to Klang Valley and now they are even in Putrajaya. This well-known cendol stall has come a restaurant is known as Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul.  This is their origin which is just a hawker stall and visited by every celebrities. You just need to good at one thing and people will make you famous. That's how it works in life. RM5.90++ for their original chendol. Their chendul is way different than the one you used to have in Melaka. Their brown sugar is sweeter and the best part is their green jelly which known as cendol in malay. It is so soft and fine. The moment you chew it give you the tender and springy sensation. No other cendol has such a delicious green jelly as they do but the one which is at Batu Pahat, Johor to have a similar jelly taste.  The original may be good but just not good enough to beat their own Chendul Durian. Using the same brown sugar and green jell...

Kedai Kopi Melanian, Kota Kinabalu

Image
Last year I had a disappointing experience of Sheng Rou Mian at Kedai Kopi Jia Siang  so this year I was pretty determined to find a better Sheng Rou Mian for redemption. To my surprise, I was able to find one which is just located few streets away from  Kedai Kopi Jia Siang  which is known as Kedai Kopi Melanian. By the way, Sheng Rou Mian means raw meat noodle. Do not get panic by thinking that I am introducing you eating a raw pork.  The pork is fresh and thinly slice and mix with flour before cook. So to make the texture as if you are having a raw pork. I find that people in Kota Kinabalu always having noodle for their breakfast. A lot of noodle stalls are opened early in the morning. Their noodle is fantastic! The noodle is springy and tangy as if the noodle is jumping inside your mouth. The mixture of the sauces are perfectly done. The noodle alone is already scrumptious. The price of a bowl of Sheng Rou Mian is RM7.50++. This is the Sheng Rou whi...

Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh, Kota Kinabalu

Image
There are two best bak kut teh in Kota Kinabalu that I have known so far. One is known as Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh  and the other one is known as Sin Kee Bak Kut Teh. There are just located one street away from each other. However, both of them got the same jam packed customers as you can see from the picture above. You just cannot detect any available seat around. This is how good they are. The one and only chef in action to prepare the whole bak kut teh to all the patrons. The surprising part is the serving speed was extremely fast. Usually when you see so many people, you might think you will need to wait for quite some time but he can make sure you will get your food at the fastest speed. These are the prices after GST is imposed.  They do have other dishes to serve too apart of their famous Bak Kut Teh. However, my advice is just stick with their Bak Kut Teh no matter how much the waiter/waitress to push you to order more. The moment you sit down, they will st...

Nishiki Japanese Restaurant, Kota Kinabalu

Image
After a great experience at Nagasaki Japanese Restaurant , I carry a higher hope to try another Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. So I made a visit at Nishiki Japanese Restaurant which is located just a street away from  Nagasaki Japanese Restaurant .  I find that this restaurant has quite a lot of private rooms compare to other Japanese restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. The decoration and the furniture are a little old-fashioned in my opinion. This is not a small cup but is a bowl. This is the first time I am having my green tea in a bowl. The green tea is chargeable at RM2.00++/pax and it is refillable. Sashimi Moriawase @RM80.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Only the salmon and the butter fish are fresh. As for the others, they are not fresh at all and immerse unpleasant smell when I was chewing on it. Chawan Mushi @RM12.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5   Overall: 3/5 - This is th...

Kedai Kopi Lotus, Kota Kinabalu

Image
Kota Kinabalu doesn't have huge hawker center like you will see in Peninsular Malaysia or Kuching but I have to reckon that the best hawker center in Kota Kinabalu is in Kedai Kopi Lotus. Kedai Kopi Lotus themselves do serve their own food which was very terrible and beyond edible state. So do not eat anything from this restaurant. You just pick the stalls beside this restaurant. There are 4 stalls which I will introduce one by one to you but the only stall which will not be introduced is the stall which is selling Guo Tie ( a kind of dumplings) -  not my favorite. The best and the most popular stall of all is this chicken wing stall. Everyone is there lining up for them either taking away or dining there. You may need to wait for 15-20 minutes for it. However, it will be definitely worthwhile. RM2.65/pc for this chicken wing. The reason it is taste so good is because of the perfect combination of the honey and the BBQ fragrance. They blend it so well inside the fresh and...

How Lee Coffee Shop, Kota Kinabalu

Image
In Kota Kinabalu, you will find noodles from different part of town such as Tuaran Mee , Beaufort Mee and now what I am going to introduce to you is the another town's local mee which is known as Tenom Mee. I think I do not have to mention where it is originated. I find that people in KK are really pampered with all kinds of noodle serving to them. This is Tenom noodle which is slightly disappointing because after our experience with the Beaufort noodle , we brought a pretty high expectation this will be somehow better or at least the same like it. However, to us, it is just another noodle like the wantan mee. Wantan mee taste way better thou. There is the possibility this restaurant doesn't serve the real Tenom noodle or the Tenom noodle is actually looks like this. Well, I only can find out if I make a visit to Tenom. The tenom noodle is actually substitute with the rice so we have to order some other dishes to accompany with it. So we had a bowl of different types...

Restoran Seng Hing, Kota Kinabalu

Image
To those who loves tomyam and laksa, you got to try this place here at Restoran Seng Hing. It is located in the town near the big wet market which you can smell the strong fishy smell from this restaurant. It is better to walk than find a parking here because during lunch hour, the parking space is like a gem . They are not just selling tomyam and laksa. They have other fried stuffs and bak kut teh too. However, they are only good at tomyam and laksa so do not bother to try anything else. Laksa @RM8.50 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - I thought the one at Kedai Kopi Yee Fung  has the most coconut milk in a laksa. But this one is even more. It is not a bad thing. The coconut milk it is the more fragrance is the laksa and less spicy too. I really like the taste of this laksa which is only able to get to taste in Kota Kinabalu. Pretty unique. Tomyam Noodle @RM10.00 Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/...

Welcome Seafood Restaurant (Town Branch), Kota Kinabalu

Image
If you are coming to Kota Kinabalu but not trying their seafood here, that means your whole trip is meaningless. Look at the poeple here. All tables are occupied, tourists and locals are flocking in here non-stop. This place is the well-known Welcome Seafood Restaurant. I have introduced this restaurant before at another branch which is further away from the town at Penampang . This is their another branch which is cater to the tourist because it is near the town area.  Without further ado, let's start select your desire seafood for tonight. Basically, you have to come over here yourself to pick your own seafood and order them.  Once you choose your desire seafood, they will weight them for you and tell you the price. If you are happy with the price, you just proceed with how to cook them. They will give you a few suggestions and you just choose either one of them. This is the first time I see how they keep their Mantis Prawn. According to the waiter, it is safer...
