Top 10 Most Romantic Restaurants in Klang Valley

It is FEBRUARY!!! When it is February, most of us will know that it is the only month with 28 days, some older people will just think of Chinese New Year but for the love birds, they will only have Valentines' Day in their mind. This day is men's nightmare because they need to think where to spend and how much to spend as well. As for the ladies, it is one of their most desirable date ever throughout the year to expect how their men are going to surprise them.
I have taken more than 2 years to survey for the best restaurants to be compiled in this list. It is done more than 100 restaurants around Klang Valley. I will be truly glad if I able to solve some men's challenges in celebrating their Valentine's Day. I do hope others will enjoy this post as well too.
I will briefly share with you how do I judge these restaurants and how their score is calculated. So that you will know I am not doing some blind marking system here. The scores will be divided into 6 categories. 5 points is the full mark and here is how they are being evaluated.
1) Service 
  • It is important to have a good service so that you will feel like a king and queen on that moment.
  • 1 mark will be given each for food knowledge, attentiveness, smile, helpful and food serving speed.
2) View
  • It is essential to have a scenic view in a restaurant to create a natural romantic scene. So this is one of the categories that will affect the score the most.
  • 5 points for sky view or nature view
  • 1 - 2 points for window seating
  • 0 point for no view
3) Menu Selection
  • You wouldn't want to go into a restaurant and struggle with the menu. So 1 point will be given for each criteria is met below:
    • Variety of choices
    • Attraction of choices
    • No run out of stock issue
    • Dishes which is no longer available will not exist in the menu
    • Menu design
4) Ambiance
  • Cleanliness and exquisite design, suitable background music and lighting, comfortable dining area, low noisiness issue and no bugs issue are important so 1 point for each of it.
5) Food
  • When two restaurants have the same average score, food score will be taken as priority for the ranking. After all, we are coming here for the food.
  • Food score will be given to complimentary dishes, appetizer/starter, main course, dessert and food presentation. 1 point each.
6) Privacy
  • No one wants to be noticed or seen when you have your hands on her hair or when you are taking selfie together. So this category is also one of the categories that will affect the score the most.
  • 5 points for one table distance between tables - there are some restaurants will emptied a table to create a distance between your table and next occupied table.
  • 3 points for at least 2 meters distance between tables
  • 0 point for too close


I hope with the score guideline above, you will have better understanding with why these restaurants are ranked. The expected expenditure stated below is not inclusive beverage cost and it should be treated as a basic guideline. Some people may have bigger appetite and some are not. Anyway, let's start with the ranking!

10) Tamarind Springs - SCORE: 3.33

Dining in the nature is really a refreshing and relax way to celebrate your Valentine's Day. It doesn't always have to be dined in an air-conditioned restaurants to be considered as romantic.

8) Fukuya Japanese Restaurant - SCORE: 3.5

Welcome to the mysterious restaurant! Yes, that is the feeling when a huge black cloth is covering the front door is revealed. A bungalow land has turned out to be an exquisite restaurant. Without a doubt, this is a must go restaurant if you are a real Japanese cuisine fan. Do get their private room if possible because their non-private area is not really private at all.

7) Senja @The Saujana Hotel & Resort - SCORE: 3.67

An authentic Italian restaurant is in the rank. This is a good news if your love ones is always craze for pizza and pasta. They have a very nice man made lake view but it is not air-conditioned. No view will be seen if you are dining indoor. It is not bad if you are seating indoor too, the live band will definitely entertain you enough.

6) Mandarin Grill @Mandarin Oriental - SCORE: 3.67

I had a friend told me about their steak is not as good as expected. However, I am not a fan of steak but I have to acknowledge that their other dishes from starter to dessert are really amazing. This restaurant serves an entirely different western cuisine. Their creativity is beyond words.

5) Thirty 8 @Grand Hyatt Hotel - SCORE: 3.83

If you got no idea what she likes to eat but you want to give her the best view in the city, do consider this restaurant. They serve international cuisine which means they serve all types of cuisine. You name it and they got it. They got live band too which is just what you needed for a perfect romantic night.

4) Cilantro @Micasa AllSuite Hotel - SCORE: 3.83

No view? No problem for Cilantro. They are serving Italian cuisine which is fused with Japanese style in it.  The divine taste will definitely capture your heart and leave a deep impression for you. What is even more impressive is their privacy. Their distance between occupied tables are quite far away and you will definitely enjoy your private meal together with your love ones.

3) Ten Restaurant - SCORE: 3.83

An authentic Japanese restaurant in such a high class design with nice street view to see is absolutely marvelous. I like high ceiling restaurants and this is the only Japanese restaurant that I have dine in so far to own that. What is even more important is their food is definitely high class standard. When you are in this restaurant, you do not have to doubt about their food quality. Anything you pick from their menu will definitely pleased you.

2) Nobu Kuala Lumpur - SCORE: 4.17

If you want to dine up close and personal with our Malaysia's pride, Petronas Twin Tower, check out this restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant instead of Marini's on 57. Apart of their similar view, their food are way better than Marini. They serve Japanese cuisine which has married with Peruvian style. Totally different experience to bring to you.

1) Cantaloupe Sky Dining - Score: 4.33

Looking for a night that you will never forget? Search no more. Their food are truly different than a normal steak or pasta. You will always be amazed and surprised with how a food has been evolved into. Well, apart of the food, this is the best restaurant with the best view of the KL's skyscrapers.

Just AirAsia alone has 12 daily flights to Kota Kinabalu. Take one of the flight and dine in the the most romantic restaurant in Kota Kinabalu. They got this special seating just for special occasion. Extremely private and you got a private waitress to serve you throughout the day. They owned the sea view but unfortunately you can't see anything from the pitch dark especially they are only open for dinner.

The Smokehouse Hotel & Restaurant - SCORE: 3.5

Too afraid to take a flight? How about drive 3.5 hours to Cameron Highland to this British inn like restaurant. I do not have to describe more about the weather in Cameron Highland. So you are definitely able to hypnotize yourself as if you are dining in overseas.

What will people think first when we talk about Penang? Penang Hill? Batu Feringghi? Hard Rock Cafe? I doubt any of them come first but their local food! Penang famous with their local foods and that is the reason there are a lot of hawker center at Penang. One of them is at Jalan MacAlister. No name for this hawker center but the local good foods are concentrated here. A lot of hawker stall like this here. There are just too many to choose from. Sports Shooting Club Hatyai (SSC)

Most of people think if you travel to Hatyai and not visiting their temples, you are just wasting your time at Hatyai. As for my personal opinion, if you come to Hatyai and did not go to Sports Shooting Club (SSC) Hatyai to experience the shooting experience with a real gun, I think you are not just wasting your time at Hatyai but you are wasting your time being a human. You only live once and there is no better way to understand these guns than coming over to SSC.   Their gun selections are enough to satisfy your urge. From rifle, pistols, revolvers to shotguns. You would be surprised that their rifle is the cheapest. The price is stated from 890 baht nett for a 15 rounds.  I have tried the rifle, beretta and this Smith and Wesson 4506 .45 ACP. This 45 is my favorite among all with 50m shooting range and 8+1 capacity. One of the most expensive gun to rent here. Basically you are shooting at the target paper like this. Kedai Kopi Lotus, Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu doesn't have huge hawker center like you will see in Peninsular Malaysia or Kuching but I have to reckon that the best hawker center in Kota Kinabalu is in Kedai Kopi Lotus. Kedai Kopi Lotus themselves do serve their own food which was very terrible and beyond edible state. So do not eat anything from this restaurant. You just pick the stalls beside this restaurant. There are 4 stalls which I will introduce one by one to you but the only stall which will not be introduced is the stall which is selling Guo Tie ( a kind of dumplings) -  not my favorite. The best and the most popular stall of all is this chicken wing stall. Everyone is there lining up for them either taking away or dining there. You may need to wait for 15-20 minutes for it. This is my first time dining at Sentul and glad to know this great Chinese restaurant which is known as Restoran Makanan Laut Lau Heong. This is the crowd at 6.00pm on Sunday. Crazy right? Let you see from another angle. They just own one shop lot but seems like owning an extra 4 parking space but still they are people standing and waiting for their seat including me! After taking the cable car from Harbourfront to Sentosa Island, Skyline Luge is what you will see when you reach there at Imbiah Lookout. Riding this can get you faster to the Siloso Beach and extremely exciting too! The price is as above and as you can see there is an express queue charges if you got bored of queuing. Luge is a very light sled where over here it is functioned by wheels instead of skate. It slides down the hill without using engines to run it. Blue Moon Valley actually is an extremely blue river meandering through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Seen from a distance, it resembles a blue crescent moon inlaid at the foot of the mountain. That's how the place got its beautiful name! However, blue is not the only colour of the river. If it rains, the white mud and limestone rubble at the riverbed will be swirled up, making the water as white as milk. Therefore, local Naxi people name it White Water River (Baishui River).
