Mandarin Grill @Mandarin Oriental

It is another great hangout with an old friend again and this time is Pei San. We did a lot of catch up on that day and enjoy our amazing dining experience at Mandarin Grill which is located inside the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This restaurant has non-stop giving me surprises with their exciting menu which changes regularly. One of my favorite restaurants that you won't ever get bored of dining at all the time.
No spectacular scene to be expected here but this greenery scene of KLCC park is good enough to make your day either you came in for lunch or dinner.
Unlike any other restaurants who prefer to put whatever bread they are serving on that day on the table for you, what this restaurant did was presenting their bread of the day in front of us to let us choose from it. For displaying purpose, so we chose each of every type of breads. 4 different breads gave us 4 different kind of tastes. Truly amazing!
Lobster Bisque @RM38.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - This soup comes with roasted diver scallop and marinated mango. So rich of lobster taste in it and with slight sweetness from the mango. Truly awesome experience for a simple soup like this. I would recommend to share this soup instead of having it alone because the portion may be quite big for a lady.

Creme De Champignons @RM38.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - This soup comes with a piece of smoked duck ravioli. De champignons means mushroom in French which is the same like Portobello mushroom. In another word, this is a mushroom soup if the picture is not clearly showing it. Delicious, sweet and with little chewy sensation is absolutely divine. Same as the above, the portion maybe too big for a lady. You may request to share it.

Aromatic North Atlantic Cod Fish Fillet @RM145.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 4/5 - It comes with fresh sweet corn with piquillo pepper, crispy leek juliennes and dill infused white butter sauce. The sauce is the reason why there is the "aromatic" word in the name of this dish. You just have to dip in a little of the sauce with the cod fish to taste the aromatic of it. Really delicious. The more you eat the more hungry you are. That's what my friend claimed.

She acknowledged that this is the best dish that she ever had in her life and I second that.
Duet of Spring Chicken @RM128.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - This chicken is baked in a salt crust and it is braised before display it in front of you like this. It is same like how the Chinese style of salt baked chicken. The taste is slightly different though because you don't taste them too salty and it is just nice, soft and tender.

Lavender Creme Brulee @RM34.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Creme Brulee with a lavender kick in it is truly creative. It is a good dessert but somehow it is overshadowed by the next dessert that I am going to present to you below.

Pistachio Souffle @RM34.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 4/5 - This is a must order dessert even though you have to wait for 20 minutes for it. It comes with a delicious Armagnac ice cream which means it has alcohol in it. You have to eat it while it is still hot so please do cut short your photo taking time on this dessert. The reason it is so delicious is because it is soft with crunchy burned sugar in it. The fragrance slowly roam out from the cake which makes you smile eventually. You will wish the souffle is bigger in size at that point of time.

She had her best ever dessert in her life on that day as well too!! I am glad she enjoyed a lot with her lunch on that day. Hopefully we can do it again some other time.
In the end we are given a complimentary chocolates for us to taste. It is not for taking away.
This restaurant serves contemporary cuisine which means is a modernized from a normal cuisine that we usually have. Therefore, the creativity in every dishes must be the priority but creative enough to be delicious is not easy at all. For example, Marini's on 57 which they are very creative with their dishes but the taste is unable to be compared with Mandarin Grill's quality. I highly recommend you to spend the money to dine in this restaurant instead of a place like Marini's on 57.
