A' Famosa Animal World Safari, Melaka

School break is coming soon and it is the time for the family to find something to get together and have fun. A'Famosa Animal World Safari is  definitely one the place that should be in your consideration. RM45.00 (adult) and RM33.00 for kids above 90cm. I have to purchase a ticket for my son who is just 3 years old. The price is definitely costly. However, the price comes with a free lunch and a drink! So now you know why the price is that costly.
You are advised to buy food for feeding after you pass by the ticket entrance. The price is relatively cheaper than buying them elsewhere.
Our first stop is at the elephant section where you can get close to the friendly elephants by feeding them or patting them on their trunk for pictures!
The trainer was showing us how an elephant sits.
And how elephants shake their hands.
There are two elephant shows running everyday which are at 10.15am and 4.30pm. The duration of the show is about 15-20 minutes.
It is a show which talks about how men and elephants survive together.
The audio was really bad and hardly can listen what the narrator was trying to say. Overall, I will give the performance a C. It can be done better with a better audio system and the actors can be more passionate in doing their show.
After that, we hopped on a safari truck for a safari adventure. It is an exploration the magic of wildlife habitats and environment in a safari truck. Watch in amazement as we encounter majestic tigers, lions, giraffes, camels, zebras, elephant and other creatures roaming freely in the safari.
You can pay to feed the tigers and you shall see how the tiger devours the raw meat in front of you. A new experience for the kids? Can be terrifying but it is still a worthy experience for them.
Our safari truck did not experience an attack from a tiger or lion but we were attacked by ostriches who were pecking on not just our truck but every each truck that stop in front of them. Seems like they are not happy with new visitors.
Next is the Farm House. You will realize the variety of eggs , chickens and rabbits that you not seen before. They have 10 different types of chicken including phoenix which has long tails, turkeys, silky chicken, domestic chicken, poland, giant cochin and others. You can let your kids to have experience holding a chick on their hands. Just make sure they have a pair of gentle hands.
This is a phoenix. It is good that they have all the information about the chickens and phoenix here. They even have the country of origin.
To be honest, I didn't pay so much attention about the name and the description. All I see is food...don't hate me, vegan readers.
An Albino peacock, this is one of the highlight animal in the safari.
The walk thru area is the best area that I have been throughout the safari. As you can see, my son was running freely with a rabbit. Actually, the rabbit is going on rogue. It is running away from its compound.
This area is beautifully landscaped and makes for a pleasant walk pass spacious enclosures with various of animals such as greater flamingos, swans, raccoons, camel, peacocks and others.
Experience the animals up close, feed and pet the rabbits, sheep, ponies, and other friendly animals as you stroll leisurely here.
You could tell that my son was having a great time at this area. You can just take a rest and let your kids roam freely interacting with the animals here.
I think they wouldn't mind to stay here for the entire day!
Enough of the rabbits, let's meet other animals too!
This goat was in style and my son is mimicking it. So cute!
The camels is bigger than him but he is not afraid. That's my boy!
The pony was going for his whole hand. Oh no! Hahaha...the friendly ponies are gentle, no worries!
Don't forget to pat them too, son! Full of love shown by this little boy here.
Color of the birds is another live performance by our aviary friends and be amazed to see their well-trained parrots cockatoos.
Picking up RM10.00 from the audience? That's a cool way to earn some money for your master. I want this bird!
A cockatoo is doing a stunt to amaze the kids. For your information, the showtime is at 12.00pm and 3.45pm daily.
Pay RM10.00 and you will enjoy the birdies feeding on your hands. Now, I really want them!
Another performance that amazed me is the hornbill catching its food at mid-air. It has very good precision. Another thing about hornbill is the moment it flies, the wings is flapping with a really loud sound. It can be scary but it can be very awesome too.
Flamingos parade and then followed by ducks and ducklings, and swans. Just like any other bird performances will always have. I kinda know this kind of routine. The performance I would rate a C because once again I do not know what the commentator was talking about. The audio quality is very poor.
A peacock is showing off its asset to get its treats. You are not allowed to go near a peacock. Seriously, they do attack. I had an experience of this before at Bukit Gambang Safari Park. Never mess with a crazy peacock.
Take pictures with an eagle at a price. There are a lot of eagles here. You can take pictures with 2 eagles too if your hand is strong enough. Man, these birds are heavy!
White-billed Sea Eagle is also one of the signature animals in this park. Looking at this eagle flying around and above you is really frightening somehow. Nonetheless, it is still an amazing experience.
My son can't handle the eagles so let him enjoy what he is good at, which is feeding! The best part is feeding the pelicans and it is free.

Next, we took a motorized barge to an island which is known as the Monkey Island.

The Monkey Island is a tree covered islet located at the middle of the lake. There is no charges to get to here.

It is home to inquisitive brown lemurs , squirrel monkeys and capuchins , tiny red-handed tamarinds mischievous white-handed gibbons, macaques and squirrels.

You can get close to the animals when you are trying to feed them.

The animals are not locked away and they are freely roaming on the island and it is very friendly and shy too.
Once it got your food, it will go into a hide before coming down again for more.
This is the wild wild west show. Before the show starts, you can let your kids or yourself to experience riding a horse around and taking pictures.
The price is RM20/pax and they will only take you for 2 rounds. The round is not big and everything just takes about 5 minutes. Yes, it is expensive. My son is very scared but he is trying to remain his calm somehow. Atta boy!
Let the show begins! This is the best performance among all 4 live performances in this safari.
The cowboys, outlaws, horse-ridding, Red Indians, a pretty Red Indian princess and the town clown act out a story with bone-crunching brawls, realistic gunfire, impressive pyrotechnics and superb stunts.
There is only one show each day which is at 2.15pm. You shouldn't miss it or else there is no point you are visiting this place.
There are some funny scene to amuse the kids but once again the audio system has failed miserably. We hardly can listen the conversation of the performers.
Anyway, just watch the show. It is fun! Even though I do not know why they are fighting for anyway.
The pyrotechnics are pretty awesome but also quite scary for the kids. My son doesn't like loud noise so he doesn't like the show that much. Oh well, at least an entertainment for the adults.
Let's give a big hand of applause to the performers here who are working hard everyday producing the same stunts for us. Amazing job! Thank you! I give their performance an A- due to the disappointing audio system.
The best part for the kids is still making new friends. My son got himself a cute friend from Kuwait. After knowing her, they were hand in hand until we left. So lovely. Hahaha...my son got his edges.
There is another performance which is Multi Animal Fun Time which is a multi-animal show by sun bear, buffalo, pig-tailed macaque, otter, cats and dogs The showtime is at 11.20am and 3.00pm. The performance I would give a B as this stage the audio is better than the rest. At least I can hear what they are talking about. Overall, it is still a good visit despite their lousy audio system and expensive entrance fee. Reason? There is still no better Safari Park yet in Malaysia...unfortunately.
