MyElephant Thai Restaurant @Happy Mansion

myElephant Thai restaurant has established themselves in Malaysia since 2007. In this span of 10 years, they already have spread their wings throughout Klang Valley area and Ipoh with 6 neighborhood oriented branches. The concept of this restaurant is not by opening in high density area such as mall or or commercial business district.. All their branches are opened in residential area. This is what make myElephant more unique than any other common Thai restaurants.
Green Aroma is their signature drink which is made from fresh pandan with lemongrass with herbs @RM8.48. The taste is really calming and soothing.

Overall: 2/5 - The taste is very average because any Phad Thai at Thailand which is selling by the road side taste better than this. Honestly, I cannot believe they rate this as their best seller.

Overall: 4/5 - This is the best fried chicken I ever had. Aromatic fried skin combined with the soft and tender meat is really a divine pleasure. It was too good and we had to order another one.

Tom Som seafood (1 pax) @RM10.60
Outlook: 1/5

Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - It is a clear galangal, lemongrass and lime soup with aromatic Thai herbs. Looks can be deceiving but once you take the first sip of the soup, you will definitely fall in love with it. It is spicy and sour but not until the extend you will hate it. It is really appetizing and tasty. They only serve in 1 pax or 4 pax portion.

Mango with Glutinous Rice @RM9.01

Overall: 2/5 - They have just ruined the image of Thai mango which is famous for their super sweet mangoes. The mango they served to us is extremely sourish. If they can't get a sweet mango, they should have just mark this dessert is not available on that particular day. What a letdown!

Overall, I find it weird for an authentic Thai restaurant can't even make their signature pineapple fried rice and Phad Thai right. However, surprisingly their ala-carte dishes such as the chicken and the soup are extremely good. It seems like they have two chefs preparing ala-carte order and lunch set meals. Otherwise, I cannot understand why the quality of the taste can this big contrast.

Total Damage: RM69.03
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 3/5
Food Serving Speed: Fast
Will I Revisit?: Yes, to try their other ala-carte meal. Not the set.

Overall: 3/5 - It is also known as their signature Symphony of Starters, which takes you across the breadth of Indochinese cuisine with Vietnamese shrimp crystal rolls, lemongrass prawns, Cambodian-style deep-fried shrimp cakes and minced chicken on cinnamon sticks. All served with a variety of piquant sauces. The plate is just nice for 2 pax but the price is too expensive for that small portion.

Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - If you think that coconut soup should be a milky soup, then you are wrong. This is a chicken tomyam clear soup with coconut meat in it. Very delicious and creative way to make it. The coconut meat is the highlight of the entire soup. It just gave the soup an extra coconut fragrance in it and of course, they are edible. Do not worry, the soup is not too spicy.

Overall: 4/5 - It contains of cashew meringue, Mascarpone cream, honey balsamic cream served with white chocolate dipped vanilla Magnum topped with freeze dried raspberries and fresh strawberries. My suggestion is to mix them all together including the ice cream itself otherwise by eating the ice cream alone will be too sweet. Once you mixed them all together, the magic comes. The sensational taste of creamy, crunchy, a little sourish kick and sweetness combining all together to create a wonderful ice cream dessert. Definitely is a must order dessert when you are there.
