Manmaru Robatayaki & Bar @Atria Shopping Gallery

Manmaru Robatayaki & Bar was nominated as Best Japanese Restaurant in 2015 in TimeOut KL but they were beaten by Kampachi @Troika. However, it is still something proud to be nominated as we all know the Japanese Cuisine competition in just Klang Valley is really crazy enough.
This restaurant is located inside the Atria Shopping Gallery and you wouldn't miss them by any chance because you can basically see the restaurant name every where especially at the ground floor.
A comfortable seating for you to chill out with their Suntory Japanese beer. I reckon Suntory is the best beer among all other Japanese beer. This is one of the rare place to get a Suntory beer which is cost at RM22/glass. When opening up the menu, I wish I can order every single thing in it. They are so fancy, creative and attractive.

Overall: 3/5 - They served the cold tofu in front of you first before pouring the mushroom gravy around it. Pretty fancy way to display a simple cold tofu. As for the taste, the cold tasteless tofu just got attractive and delicious. The soft and tender tofu mixed with quite salty mushroom gravy and with a little crunchiness from the rice cracker bits. It is truly a joy to see a cold tofu got exciting with all these. I only wish the mushroom gravy wouldn't be too salty. I prefer it has rich of mushroom flavor in it.

Overall: 4/5 - The decoration is pretty creative I would say with a tiny crab seems like it is pooping black caviar. Basically, this dish is just fish roe, raw salmon and tortilla crackers. However, the magic that makes all the 3 main ingredients becomes super delicious is the green sauce at the bottom of the plate. The sauce is obviously known as wasabi sauce. The wasabi kick just blend them all together with sweet raw salmon, popping fish roe and crunchy tortilla. This is a must order dish.

I called him Mr. Crab. I am sure is a He. He is just a tiny crab and it is kinda cruel to put him all into my mouth. So I decided not to eat him. I got a good portrait on him before we left the restaurant.

Overall: 3/5 - It is a selection of their sashimi with 8 different types. There are only one piece each. So this portion basically meant for one person only. Their sashimi is fresh without a doubt but due to too many fancy food around us and the sashimi becomes less attractive. Please do not get me wrong. The sashimi is delicious but compare to other food above and below here, I do not really able to enjoy them to the max as I always will.

Overall: 4/5 - Here comes their signature kushiyaki with almost all their skewer selections are here except 3 premium beef meat. There are beef here together with other meat such as salmon, duck, chicken skin, chicken thigh, chicken gizzard, lamb, chicken wing, eggplant and hotate. They are all extremely lip-smacking delicious. You do not even want to share them. If you would ask me which is the best, I might struggle between duck and hotate. However, the worst one will be the chicken gizzard. I never like it and I will never would. I believe there are people who likes it but not me. I wish it is not in this plate of 10 skewers.

Wafu Spaghetti @RM48.00++

Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - A one whole flower crab in a seafood spaghetti. The gravy is a little salty but you can forget about it when the taste of seafood freshness overwhelmed it. It is a really big portion which can feed 2-3 pax easily.

Overall, this is a great Japanese restaurant which I wish to hangout again and try more of their innovative and creative dishes. It somehow break the boring traditional Japanese cuisine! I am totally a fan of it. They are almost flawless except their service. They got a lot of staffs but none of them really attentive to us. There are only 4 tables occupied at the point of time but for them to refill my cup of tea needs to hunt for them to do so. It was really bad. If this restaurant doesn't survive, it will be all down to their service.
Total Damage: RM253.00 (2 pax)
