Restoran Ikan Asam Pedas, Kluang
Spicy Assam Fish Head @RM42.00 |
Outlook: 2/5
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - You need to go into their kitchen to order because you can choose your own fish head that you preferred. The appearance does not interest you and look scary at the same time right? That is the same feeling I have when I first dine in this restaurant. Take a scoop of the gravy and drink it. It will definitely blow away all the prejudice on this dish and scoop for more. The gravy is so delicious which you can just eat it together with plain white rice. No kidding!
Otak-otak @RM8.50 |
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 4/5
Overall: 4/5 - Even though this restaurant's signature is their Spicy Assam Fish Head but my personal favourite is this otak-otak. Otak means brain in Malay language. Does it looks like a minced brain to you? That's how they named it. Back to the topic, this is the most delicious otak otak ever I have tasted in my life up to today. The fish taste is fresh and with prawns in it to add the tangy feeling when chewing. You will definitely say not enough. Order more! It is not expensive at all.
Kangkung Belacan @RM5.00 |
Creativity: 2/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 5/5
Overall: 3/5 - I never see a single one restaurant in Malaysia willing to cook this much of vegetable in the plate with just RM5.00 until this restaurant proof me wrong. Most of the time you will see vegetable in a very small portion which cost you a minimum of RM8.00. The taste is not bad too. You just cannot believe how reasonable the price is in this restaurant.
Steamed Egg @RM3.00 |
Creativity: 3/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 5/5
Overall: 3/5 - RM3.00??? I am not kidding. Actually the old price was RM2.00 and I am definitely not joking! It is a big plate too! I really cannot believe my eyes when the time I got the receipt. Please show me another restaurant that is cheaper or at least same price like this. As for the taste, not bad but I would rather prefer a softer type of steamed egg. As soft as a tofu.
To be honest, it is not easy to get a luxury food at a super cheap price anymore. The most important part it is tasty! Tasty enough you wouldn't mind the restaurant is not focusing with the appearance of their dishes. This is the best part of this restaurant and it is still exist in this small town of Kluang. I really do hope they can maintain the same price and same standard forever.
