Omaya Korean Spiced Chicken, SS15

The most hype Korean cuisine right now is Omaya Korean Spiced Chicken restaurant. People is willing to wait for hours for it. I, myself have waited for the whole 90 minutes. Their first branch is located at Menara Rajawali, SS15. To those who know this area probably will know that two famous INTI college and Taylors college are located just next door. Without a doubt, this place definitely crawling with students. There are some travelling students from Segi College and Sunway College which is not far away to add the waiting time even longer.
You are advised to make an reservation at least one day before the trip. If you are going to dine during the weekends, you should do it even earlier to avoid disappointment. They already have another new branch at Solaris Mont Kiara to serve more customers at Klang Valley area.
They do sell alcoholic drinks but most of them will choose this rainbow drink which is also kids favorite. Nothing special about the taste but just the appearance is colorful and it in a tall bottle. By the way, you can take away the bottle.
They serve their complimentary kimchi and lettuce in a toolbox like this. Just being fancy instead of using a tray.
One of their signature is their Lee Kwang-Soo Cheese Dakgalbi series. We ordered a 10oz Pork Chop Cheese Dakgalbi @RM82.00++. The reason why it is different than any other traditional Korean restaurant is the cheese surrounding the hot plate. Everyone is there for the seductive cheese.
I love what I have ordered which comes with a 10oz pork chop. This pork chop is well marinated. It is so delicious and fragrant and mix so well with their cheese. It can feed at least 2-4 pax. In my opinion, 3 pax is just perfect.
After cutting the pork chop into smaller pieces, they will start cooking them in front of you. For your information, a true authentic Korean restaurant will have people to cook for you. Those who make you to cook yourself is a fake Korean restaurant. They might as well just call themselves a steamboat restaurant which comes with grill plate.
I thought just the Lee Kwang-Soo Cheese Dakgalbi series is not enough for us so I have ordered their another famous Korean BBQ Skewer @RM138.00. This is suitable for 2-3 pax. This is the world record skewer with 1200mm long.
Initially, I thought the skewer is cooked in their kitchen before serve to us. In the end, when I saw him pulling the meat one by one on the hot plate, I know this is just another normal Korean BBQ style. The skewer is just a decoration to make the meat fancier instead of displaying them on the plate.
No cheese at the side for their skewer set. It is only steamed egg which is quite delicious but not as attractive as the cheese...of course. The meat in this skewer is not the same than other sets. It is has more garlic taste in it. There are fresh seafood comes in this set which are prawns and cuttlefish.
The most satisfying yet sinful part is to pull the cheese as long as you can. The cheese is the most important ingredient to make the ordinary grilled meat to be extraordinary. It is every reason to come here just for it.
Overall, it is really worth it to travel all the way here and wait almost forever for it. I will recommend them to all of you. I just hope they will maintain the quality since they are going to franchise this business in bigger scale throughout Malaysia.
