Yamaguchi Fish Market, KL

Image
Yamaguchi Fish Market is inspired by fish market in Japan which allows customer to choose seafood from the market and they will prepared for them either in sushi or sashimi for them to eat fresh. That's the original way how it was started but time goes by competition is getting harder, many came out with different idea. So does Yamaguchi Fish Market to have it in a restaurant instead of a market. They have sushi bar for customers to appreciate the chef serving the food right in front of them. The seating are not a lot because mostly it has been placed by their tank to put their live seafood. They have their fresh seafood deliver twice a week and this is the first time I see how they packed their live lobster. That's the price of their live lobster. I wish one day I can eat a 5kg lobster. It would be the greatest dream I ever had. They had a lot of lobsters. There were 4 tanks full of lobsters which makes me wonder do they sell that many lobsters? That...

Leaf & Co. Cafe, Petaling Street

Image
Last week, I went to another "new" cafe which is known as Leaf & Co near Petaling Street. It is considered new to me because I really cannot keep up the pace of the cafe opening like almost everyday in Klang Valley.  What the cafe is doing is to remain the old looking interior with the old paint already chipping off and cement pasting everywhere. Even the floor is not marbled. How brilliant it is to maintain the retro look of it but not doing any renovation at all.  This is their smoking area which you can sit and relax looking at other people stuck in the jam. This is a kind of old architecture which is quite popular in the past which is have hole at the center of your house. It is really great to see a tree grows inside a shop but I do not know what will happened when it rains. However, I will still compliment the cafe owner for saving their renovation by keep this spot which gives extra brightness inside the shop. Even the tables and chairs are tho...

5.1 Cafe Gallery, Sri Petaling

Image
The most basic thing a godfather got to do is to celebrate his god daughter's birthday every year. That's one thing I will make sure I will not fail doing it. This year I had the celebration held at 5.1 Cafe Gallery.  Normally, a restaurant owner will try to fully utilized the shop space with more tables and chairs to accommodate more customers. However, he chose to have this special section which can put 2 tables at least to put his photograph and some antiques. From here, you should have able to guess that the owner has a strong passion in photography too. There are a lot of cute and small stuffs which you can't resist not to feed into your instagram. Most of the cafes that I have been will only put smaller tables which only can fit 2 pax and barely can make it four because they want to maximize the space with customers. However for this cafe, they tend to put have more big tables for big group to avoid their own privacy coffee session at the corner. It is r...

Uncle Don's, Solaris Dutamas

Image
Chef Don Daniel Theseira is the owner of Duke & Duchess and Uncle Don's who has the concept of serving good quality food and beverage at a very low price in a 5 stars environment. He is from Melaka with 38 years and counting in culinary in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. He had opened 5 branches in Klang Valley and I am expecting to be more in other cities soon. I like their idea of hiring Philippines instead of other countries is because the Philippines can speak a better than English and able to communicate well with the locals. Grilled Chicken Chop @RM11.80++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 5/5 Overall: 3/5 - A plate like this just cost RM11.80++??? Seriously where can you get? The cheapest price I could find so far is RM5.00 more. I can't be complaining more for such a price. The taste was acceptable just the rice was a bit dry and hard.
