Restoran Goon Wah, Kuchai Lama

Image
A lot of hidden good food in Kuchai Lama and one of them is Restoran Goon Wah. For the past 18 years, Restaurant Goon Wah has been delighting locals and foodies alike from its first outlet in Taman Kuchai Lama, with its unique menu, high quality produce and efficient service. Founded by husband and wife team, Mr and Mrs Lee, Restaurant Goon Wah specialises in making its famous XO Claypot Fish Head Noodles, prepared with fish imported from New Zealand. This delicacy, together with Goon Wah’s other delectable original dishes, is guaranteed to bring us unparalleled enjoyment and satisfaction. Established in 1997, Goon Wah has since grown to occupy three shop lots at its original site. Their other branches are at Damansara Jaya and Genting Highland. I was at their main branch which you can see it was already full house by 12.00pm. You are advised to come early to avoid disappointment and also hunting for a parking space. There were some tables are reserved which I believe they do acc...

Restoran Xin Dong Ting @Kuchai Lama

In this post I would like to comment about a restaurant which is serving Hunan cuisine. Hunan is a province from China and the owner is migrated from Hunan and opened a restaurant in Malaysia. This is the second branch. This restaurant has a really bad service like almost any where you can see in China. No smile, expect you to order fast, do not like to entertain too many questions about what the food is made of and the worst part is they do not care if you can finish the food. Eggplants with long beans @RM15.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 2/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Slight spicy and delicious for a simple eggplant and long beans. Fried meat in farmer style @RM22.00++ Outlook: 1/5 Creativity: 1/5 Taste: 1/5 Price: 1/5 Overall: 1/5 - Hardly any meat in there. What you can see is onion, leek, red chilli and green chilli. The worst part it cost RM22.00++. Fried sausage with dried tofu fillet @RM28.00+ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 2/5 Taste: 4/5 ...

This is my first time dining out with my goddaughter, Ling Jinn Ying at Restoran Jin Xuan Hong Kong for our dim sum session She is so cute and adorable! This restaurants has 6 branches spread out the whole Klang Valley with at least 10 years of history. I heard from my friend, Jeffery said that on the weekend, people queuing up for their dim sum. Luckily today, I do not have to do that. Big hand small hand. She just can watch us eat. She is too small for food like this. Anyway, I will just shorten my ratings as usual for the following dim sum that we have ordered. Butter Cream Salted Egg Yolk Bun @RM3.60++ - 4/5 Fried Carrot Cake @RM5.00++ - 5/5 Steamed Prawn Dumplings @RM4.50++ - 3/5 Steamed Bun in Shanghai Style @RM5.50++ - 2/5 Scallop Dumplings @RM4.50++ - 4/5 Seaweed Pork @RM4.00++ - 2/5 Cheow Zhou Siew Mai @RM4.50++ - 2/5 Siew Mai @RM4.00++ - 3/5 Overall, I feel that it is just a normal dim sum that I usually had. Pan Mee is one of the Chinese favorite which is loved by the locals. I believe you would heard many places claimed to have the best pan mee. Traditional Pan Mee @RM6.80++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - Like any other ordinary pan mee that I am going to have in a normal hawker stall which cost me not more than RM4.00 Fried Pork Pan Mee @RM6.80++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 3/5 - They have different types of noodles. Win Soon Cafe @Kuchai Lama

Every time I think about fish head noodle, I will think about my 3 years working life at Menara Aik Hua which once I consider myself achieved something that I supposed to have in my working life. Well, along the Jalan Alor there is one stall which is selling fish head noodle which I always have my lunch there. After quitting that job for 5 years, I no longer have anymore fish head noodle. However, today I am having it back once again at Win Soon Cafe which is located at the corner shop lot at Kuchai Lama. It is known to be famous with their fish head noodle. Well, let's find out. 11.00am and the crowds are starting to roam in to get their seats. So the rumors should be true. Fish Head Noodle with Fresh Water Prawn Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 4/5 - I really like their soup. It is very milky and full of seafood taste in it. The prawn is fresh enough to make me wanted for more. Fish Paste Noodle Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 4/5 T...

Restoran Ful Lai, Kuchai Lama

My sister started to get bored with me after all these while my morning breakfast for most of the time is dim sum. Sorry sister, it is way healthier than nasi lemak or roti canai I supposed. So this time we had our dim sum at Restoran Ful Lai, Kuchai Lama. As early as 6.30am, we were there to warm their seats. Hahaha...very quiet and peaceful with no cars jamming the street and crowds filling up the tables. Porridge with Century Egg: This porridge has just making me to hate eating porridge even more. Too salty!!! - 2/5 Ha Kau: Normal for me because I still prefer the skin that is not so thick. - 3/5 Siew Mai with Prawn: Prawn is not tangy. - 2/5 Siew Mai: Good. If this also they can't do well, I think they cannot survive for long - 4/5 Siew Mai with Seaweed: Normal to me because I do not taste any different with a normal siew mai. - 3/5 Lo Mai Kai: Salty! The waiter keep hard sell us this which is like telling us this is their signature but it is too dis...

Taipei Walker Cafe @Kuchai Lama Entrepreneurs Park

Taipei Walker is located the same shop row with Sweethut  bringing you all the Taiwan local delicacies. You may find some of their menu similar with Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks . The difference is the environment is much better and has more variety in their menu. Jasmine Green Tea Pearl Milk Tea Crispy Chicken Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - If we compare what we had before at Taiwan, we certainly will agree that Taiwan is better. Sometimes I feel whether it is psychologically affects our preference because we know this Crispy Chicken is not made in Taiwan or it is truly Taiwan made is much more better. Bun Stuffed Ice Cream - I can make one at home myself. Nothing special to rate. Oyster Mee Sua Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Their oyster is more than  Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks  that is for sure. But it is a bit salty for me. Japanese Matcha Ice  Outlook: 4/5 Creat...
