Sul So Dam, Sri Petaling

Sul So Dam opened by a Korean family and serving the Sri Petaling residents with the current trending Korean Bingsu. This trending dessert is actually similar with the snow dessert from Taiwan which was a hit too during my college years. No idea why it has become popular again. Maybe this time it is from Korean and we all know that currently the Korean fanatic is greater than Taiwan fanatic. Just because of one famous Korean actor or actress eating a Bingsu in one of their Korean drama, everyone is started to follow it.
Their menu is very limited for food and they are specializing with their Bingsu only. You would be surprised with them for willing to open a linked two shop lots just to serve Bingsu. The rental here is not cheap at all especially they are occupying the ground floor.

Overall: 3/5 - Gimbap is a Korean seaweed and rice roll which is almost similar with the Japanese Maki. The only difference is just that it is not cut into a smaller portion. The Korean seaweed is really sweet and fragrant which combines well with the savory rice. I hardly able to taste the cheese thou but it is still delicious nonetheless.

Overall: 3/5 - Due to lack of food choices while I was really hungry, I have to order another type of gimbap which has tuna with mayonnaise in it. This one taste better than the cheese type. At least you taste the tuna in it. However, it is nothing special when you can imagine how a tuna mayo taste like in a sandwich.

Overall: 3/5 - Tteok-pokki is a Korean rice cake. It is like a Italian Macaroni which is not emptied inside. It is tasteless by itself but after deep into the carbornara sauce, it becomes really delicious and creamy with tangy sensation from the rice cake.


Mango Cheese Bingsu @RM28.80++

Overall: 2/5 - In the menu shows that they are serving it with a ripe mango but in the end we got ourselves an unripe mango in our Bingsu which makes the whole dessert becomes too sourish. They do make an attempt to cover the unripe mango with mango sweetened sauce around it but unfortunately, it doesn't work. You can cover the outside but not the inside. Anyway, I really like their snowy ice flake which is really soft and melt in your mouth less than a second. It is a delightful dessert but the price is too expensive. I would get the Taiwan Snow dessert at Daily Fresh which is 5 times cheaper than this.


It is really disappointing for a dessert house which is primarily serving their Korean Bingsu turned out to be very sloppy. If they do not have the ripe mango, they should have just tell me that they run out of stock. I am not sure if this place is going to survive in the long run with a quality like this. They better start improving and serve some Korean food such as bibimbap or udon to get some people to dine in for lunch and dinner instead of just for snacks during the tea time.
