Little Nyonya Cuisine @Gurney Plaza

Image
Once again being a free tour guide for a group of people from Yunnan, China to Penang for some nice local delicacies. However, they were complaining about our food is not spicy enough. So since they would like spicy food, the only place I can think of in Penang is The Little Nyonya Cuisine which located at the lower ground of Gurney Plaza.  Tomyam Seafood @RM18.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Spiciness Level: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - The seafood contains fish, squid and prawns only which is not bad at all. I would consider their seafood is fresh. The best part is the tomyam soup which is very spicy enough to numb your whole tongue and jaw. Nyonya Asam Pedas Ikan Pari @RM18.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Spiciness Level: 5/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - The stingray is soft and delicious but the only problem was the moment the gravy touched my tongue, I already can taste the crazy spiciness in it which is far greater than the ...

Restaurant Terapung, Pulau Aman

Image
In this post, I would like to take you to have a lunch in a quite troublesome way and at the same time could be fun too which is at Restaurant Terapung located at Pulau Aman! I was staying at Georgetown and travelling to Pulau Aman is never been easier and direct after having the Penang second link bridge which is also known as Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge. You just need to travel about 30-40 minutes heading towards Batu Maung and you will arrive at this jetty. You need to pay RM2.00 per entry for the parking. What you see opposite this jetty is Pulau Aman. So they are really close. It is just about 10 minutes boat ride to reach. The water at this jetty is the most dangerous I have ever seen. It is not because of the depth or the current but this... Can you recognized the white color thingy? There are lots of them. Yes, the jellyfish. They are quite big too! Just one sting enough to make me paralysed. I can't imagine what will happened to me if so many j...

Aik Hoe Restaurant, Lebuh Carnovan

Image
The sun is not ready to shine this land yet but the light's of Restoran Aik Hoe already started to light up the street of Lebuh Carnovan with their Dim Sum. These are some of their Dim Sum. Not a lot of choices but good enough for us already. The lady boss is so busy to prepare the dim sum and drinks all alone. The only issue is the Dim Sum is not really that hot anymore. Quite cold to eat. There are some not really that impressive but this prawn dumplings is consider acceptable, One of their creative one is the pumpkin dumplings which is sweet and tasty. Not a must visit restaurant for tourist but to the local staying around here, they just will not miss a single day without a nice dim sum and Chinese tea in this restaurant. It is already a part of their life. Total Damage: RM45.80 Ambiance: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Food Serving Speed: Self-service Recommended?: No Restaurant Aik Hoe 6&8, Lebuh Carnovan, 10100 Georgetown Penang Business Hours: 5.30am ...

Hawker Adventure @Lebuh Kimberly, Penang

Image
Hawker center in Penang are either grouped in an empty land/shop (example: Northam Beach Cafe ) or occupying the whole street like a night market (example: Presgrave Road ). Now I will introduce another hawker center that is occupying the whole street of Lebuh Kimberly at night. They are no table provided by the hawker stalls so there are about 3 dessert shops like this provide the seatings. You can order any food from any hawker stall along that road and ask them to serve to this dessert shop. The only rule they have in every dessert shop is you cannot bring in any desserts from other stalls. For your information. this dessert shop is not good. You can skip this and try the other two. The most famous stall in this whole street of Lebuh Kimberly is this Kuay Chap Stall.  This the normal kuay chap without any extra ingredients selling at RM4.50 per bowl. The kuay is the flat and board rice sheet which done in extremely thin which you barely need to chew. The soup is so thi...

QBA Latin Grill & Bar @The Westin KL

Image
It is me and Caroline again at a surprisingly romantic place at Qba Latin Grill & Bar which is located right inside the famous The Westin KL. I came across with this restaurant a while back after reading a book recommending this restaurant for their famous Latin American Cuisine but never know this place can be so romantic and peaceful. The decoration here are very Latin American style with an angel statue watching over the bar below. First storey is the dining place and the second storey is the drinking place where the live band will be there by 10.30pm. So this place is pretty quiet before 10.30pm. Very romantic dining area but they have some issue for having mosquitoes in their restaurant. Well, a low light restaurant like this is truly a favourite for mosquitoes. This is something they need to rectify. Apart of  that, their menu is quite limited of choices and what is even worst is some of them are no longer available because their meat is out of stock and not...
