Cat Cat Village, Sapa

Whenever you are in Sapa, Cat Cat Village is always one of the highlight of this place. The reason is this is the original village of the Hmong tribe which is the closest from Sapa town. Even though now it has become a tourist spot and has lost its real originality. However, it is still a good start to know about the people who is living in Sapa.

It is about a 30 minutes walk from the central of the town but the scenery along the way is breathtaking. It is totally worth it.
Just be mindful that the road is narrow and steep. Sometimes I feel the road is just too small for two vehicles to use on different direction. You will feel that you will be pushed down from the road.
So I would suggest those who is bringing kids, please get a taxi.
Do buy one of their colorful native costume for picture shooting. It is highly recommended. It is not expensive at all. So you should not be worry about spending too much money on a costume which you will never wear later on.
The entrance fee is 70,000vnd. To be honest, it is freaking expensive for an entrance fee. There are reason for it. However, I hope the money is benefiting the local. Anyway, let's start travelling all the way down.
Please pardon my friend. She has not seen a cock before.
Especially a beautiful cock like this.
Pigs are roaming freely here. So to my Muslim friends, just take note about this.
The landscape is so beautiful, the sun is glowing down the land with blessing and the air is so fresh which is relaxing your mind. It is a place of zen and peace.
This girl is very photogenic and posing picture for us. So do give her some tips if you do take her pictures. She never ask for tips but it is a right thing to do to be initiative.
The best place is this photography spots which is the reason why the entrance fee is so costly It is really made especially for the tourist. There are live performance of the Hmong traditional dance too.
Hmong, an ethnic group with traditional residential locality is China and the neighboring countries of the sub-region of Southeast Asia is Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. In Vietnam, H'Mong people are one of the ethnic minorities with a significant population among 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. In Laos they are known as the Tips or Lao Sung . In Thai, Thai is Maew or H'Mong.
In China, they called Miao, and this name is used in the international literature as Miao, as in English Miao People . The Miao is recognized by the Chinese government as one of 55 ethnic minorities in China . The Miao make up the fifth largest ethnic group in China. H'Mong people are considered to include sub-groups: H'Mong , Hmu, Hmao and Ghao Done. Outside of China, it mainly belongs to the H'Mong sub-group.
One of the locally famous waterfall, the Tien Sa waterfall is located inside this village.
I would say it could be a whole day trip if you are not easily tired and want to maximize the entrance fee cost. It is very touristy with road side sellers and child peddler tend to hog you to buy their goods. So just ignore them if you are not plan to buy. Last but not least, if you are very tired to walk back to the Sapa town. There are taxi and motorbike which can help you out with a negotiable fee. So try to get a better discount if you are coming in a bigger group.
Overall, I recommend this place for people who doesn't have enough time to explore the village of Hmong people and people with kids. It is a good place for them to learn something new.
