La Vie En Rose @Bukit Ceylon

Everyone knows that to open a restaurant, the two important basic things must have are the restaurant must be located in the crowded area and must be easily visible for everyone to know their existence. Surprisingly for La Vie En Rose restaurant, they are located at the heart of KL which meets the basic requirement but it is hardly visible even by me who was working at Menara Aik Hua before for 3 years.
Just opposite the restaurant is a row of abandon shop houses. Do notice this restaurant when you see those graffiti. The road to the restaurant is not noticeable because the road is smaller than a lane. The worst part is you need to make a sharp 360 degrees turn, to head up to this restaurant. It is very dangerous when you are along the busy road of Jalan Raja Chulan.
La Vie En Rose is a French restaurant. Their parking space is extremely limited. To describe better the meaning of my "limited" I will just explain it with number. It can only park no more than 6 cars only where you might block other patron's car. It is really annoying if you have to move your car in the middle of your meal. However, do not worry because the restaurant do provide the service to help you with that.
This restaurant is very chill and relaxing because it is an old bungalow located on the hill converted to become a wonderful restaurant like this. There is a possible mosquito attack during at night so please take note if you are prone to that attack.
A French restaurant will always make great bread so does this restaurant too. So we had ordered a couple of bread oriented food below as our starter.
Foie Gras Crème Brûlée with Toasted Brioche @RM30.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - Creme brulee as starter already sound weird for you but foie gras in a creme brulee might make you raise your eyebrow even higher! Well, it is not weird at all because it is just nice when you deep in the bread with the creme brulee and eat or spread the creme brulee over the bread to eat. Extremely delicious with slight sweetness from the creme brulee with saltiness from the foie gras plus with buttered toasted bread fragrance. Do not attempt to eat the creme brulee without the bread, too salty and will spoil your taste bud.

Ortiz Germon Tuna Belly, toasted brioche, and truffle mayonnaise @RM52.00++
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 2/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 1/5
Overall: 2/5 - I know the tuna is imported from Germany but for me it is still taste like the ordinary tuna can which we can easily purchase from any of our supermarket with slightly more fragrance and oilier.  I am not convinced that it is worth to pay more than RM50 for a tuna bread. I do not mean to insult but I just do not think it is worth it.

Duck leg confit with coco beans stew @RM52.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - The duck meat is really soft and chewable but the saltiness in the taste does not really makes me like it. Not my favourite kind of taste.

Braised beef cheek in red wine and glazed vegetables @RM66.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - I have to agree to the waiter that this dish must have red wine in it. The red wine brings the sweetness and slight sourish taste into the beef which make you experience another kind of way to taste a beef. The beef is soft and tender which is absolutely divine.

Profiteroles with chocolate & caramel sauce, chantilly cream @RM24.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 4/5 - I know by the look of the photo above you feel fat. I admit it too. However, I am glad that I am able to convince my belly to bear with me to take this dessert. Luckily I did! It is so delicious with the bitter taste of the chocolate, sweetness of the ice cream, crunchiness of the puff and the smoothness of the chantilly cream. When all mixed together and eat, you will definitely can't hide your smile from your face.

Vanilla Creme Brulee @RM22.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Another heart captivating dessert. They never stingy with their vanilla beans and want you to taste this dessert with the vanilla fragrance and yes, they succeeded. Together with the torched sugar, this dessert is just simply perfect.

I do believe they do serve a very high quality meal to their beloved customers. It is just that not all in their menu is suitable for me. So I do believe this restaurant is still a good choice for you to consider if you are looking for an authentic French restaurant in Malaysia.
Total Damage: RM313.20
Ambiance: 4/5
