Next is the Deer Cave after my exploration in the Lang Cave which is sitting just next to this cave. Even there are side by side but their cave structure is totally different.
The entrance of the Deer Cave is wider, bigger and taller than Lang Cave.
It is called Deer Cave is obviously because there were a lot of deer coming in and out this cave. After men exploration into this cave, the deer has switch their habitat to another place.
The ceiling is really high and there are lack of artificial light in this cave. Everything is fully depending on the sunlight.
It is another feeling to have bright sunlight shining through the entrance of the cave. By the way, as you can see on the right side of the pillar, they said you can see the side face of the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The angle must be really right and you got to have the imagination for it to see it clearly.
This cave is bigger and will takes you about 15 minutes walk around the cave excluding photo shooting time.
Apart of the structure, this cave smells really bad because of the guano, bats' faeces. There are millions of bats living in this cave. If you are "lucky" enough, you might get bats dropping from above. Not just smell but you can hear the bats' sound as well in this cave.
If you cannot stand with the smell, do bring your mask before entering this cave.
The lights are insufficient and flashlight is almost useless because unable to shine this big cave. So if you would like to take photos in this cave, you have to set your aperture the highest the lens can. For example, F1.8 for my lens. ISO will be set to really high but be prepared for the grainy effect which also known as noise. ISO 6400 is my maximum grainy effect that I can accept for my photo. Next, is to reduce the speed as slow as possible so that more light will absorb into your lens. Usually I use between 1/5 - 1/10. Lastly, you need a good pair of hands and legs to avoid shaking the camera.
With the above, you almost ready to get a good picture like this. If you notice well, this picture is shaky. I do admit I am not good at keeping myself steady.
You might need a high speed continuous shot so that you able to get at least one picture that is less shaky.
There are insects everywhere in this cave. So please do not jump when you see crocroaches running around the walkway.
A type of catfish is found in the stream inside the cave.
Sorry because not many good picture that I able to capture in this cave because of the limited source of light.
Ok, as I have mentioned in my previous post before, that you will be seeing bats flying out from the cave at 5.45pm - 6.00pm for the food. Here is their assembly area. Once every bats has reported in, they will fly out in a line. If you are lucky enough again, you will see the bats will assembling around in a love shape.
Here they are coming out from the caves. Their timing is really sharp.
They are flying out in a group so you wont see a continuous line like this for the whole session. They fly out as if they are all belong to the same family and another family will fly out after the previous one has finished.
It is amazing to see the bats flying out like a shape of a dragon.
This session will continue more than an hour. Imagine millions of adult bats grouping at the entrance before flying out from the cave. This process just take a lot of time. Well, it is pleasuring for us to watch it. Below is the video for this but please pardon me because that day I did not bring any telephoto lens so no close up on the bats.
Overall, Deer Cave got nothing much excitement compare to Lang Cave but the only spectacular thing is watching millions of bats flying out from this cave. Truly amazing!
Things to bring:
1) A non-slip pair of shoes or a strap sandal
2) A bright torchlight with extra batteries just in case you running out of battery in the cave.
3) Wear shorts so that you can walk comfortably.
Total Damage: RM25/pax for 2 caves trip. Ambiance: 1/5 Freakout Level: 2/5 Recommended?: Yes
Not really much entertainment in Sandakan even though they are just beside the sea. No nice beach for water activities and the nearest island like Pulau Selingan and Turtle Island are about 90 minutes away. As for the town itself, basically is this bowling centre called Champ's which has a very nice and good condition bowling alley, bowling shoes and bowling bowls if to compare with bowling centres like in KL. Not very big at all for their bowling centre which only has 12 lanes. Their shoes look so new! Here is a demonstration on how to bowl. Looks pro...I wonder how is the end result. So what do guys think? Is it a strike? They have a lounge here as well. And a cafe too! The price of the bowling is cost at RM4.80 per game per pax. We went at their most peak hours so their price basically has not much different than our KL City price. As for the bowling shoes is chargeable at RM2.00 per pax. FYI, the prices not inclusive government ta...
Hozugawa River Cruises (保津川下り, Hozugawa Kudari) are sightseeing boat rides down the Hozugawa River from Kameoka to Arashiyama. The cruises utilize traditional style, flat bottomed boats piloted by boatmen who guide the craft with oars and bamboo poles. The boats take about two hours to leisurely make their way down the river and are a relaxing way to see the natural scenery of the largely undeveloped ravine. The river cruises are often combined with a ride on the Sagano Scenic Railway. The river originates in the central part of Tanba Mountain range, then, it flows around through the mountains from Sonobe to Kameoka City. Then, it runs into the Hozu-kyo Ravine and reaches world famous Arashiyama. It then merges to Kamo-gawa River, and to Yodo-gawa River. The river from Kameoka to Saga-Arashiyama, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto City, is called the Hozu-gawa River, famous for its beautiful ravine and boat ride. 4,100 yen (adults) and 2,700 yen (kids 4-12). Once again, my son doesn't have t...

Riding this can get you faster to the Siloso Beach and extremely exciting too! The price is as above and as you can see there is an express queue charges if you got bored of queuing. Most of people think if you travel to Hatyai and not visiting their temples, you are just wasting your time at Hatyai. As for my personal opinion, if you come to Hatyai and did not go to Sports Shooting Club (SSC) Hatyai to experience the shooting experience with a real gun, I think you are not just wasting your time at Hatyai but you are wasting your time being a human. You only live once and there is no better way to understand these guns than coming over to SSC. Their gun selections are enough to satisfy your urge. From rifle, pistols, revolvers to shotguns. You would be surprised that their rifle is the cheapest. The price is stated from 890 baht nett for a 15 rounds. I have tried the rifle, beretta and this Smith and Wesson 4506 .45 ACP. This 45 is my favorite among all with 50m shooting range and 8+1 capacity. One of the most expensive gun to rent here. Basically you are shooting at the target paper like this. You can adjust the range of the target ...
There are plenty of things to eat in Boracay and basically you do not have to worry about food here. They have local cuisine to western cuisine. You name it and they got it. The food prices in Boracay is slightly high. Average to spend for food per person excluding drinks will be approximately PHP250. Oh yeah, please take note that the currency that I will use is in Philippine Peso. So you just convert it to your own currency at the time you are reading this article. I will start to introduce to you the most expensive one to the cheapest one in Boracay. No matter what price it is, they are definitely a delicacy! Let's start with a fire. This fancy restaurant sitting deep inside the d'Mall which is known as Cyma Greek Taverna serving authentic Greek Cuisine. I have never tried a Greek cuisine before not until in Boracay. Surprisingly, I have not come across with any Greek restaurant in Malaysia yet. Anyway, this fancy delicacy is their appetizer called Saganaki @P...
Driving in Singapore is really a pain especially the traffic congestion, parking hunting and speed cameras alert which is seems like everywhere. As for parking, weekdays parking is like vampire sucking all your money out from your wallet when the clock keeps ticking. Not just parking but their ERP toll is sucking the money out of your Autopass card too. However, I have realized that the best days to travel to Singapore is on weekends and especially on Sunday. ERP toll is free on Sundays. Parking rate are cheaper on Sundays and there are places are free parking too. Not much cars and peoples on the street on Sundays. Sunday is just perfect day at Singapore! Of course, if you plan to eat their buffets, Sunday will be not a suitable day as it will be super expensive. Anyway, today I just want to share one of the tourist attraction in Singapore which is the Merlion Park. I parked at Fullerton Hotel which has ample of parking spaces and it is only S$5.00/entry. The Fullerton Hotel is j...
After a night at Camp 5 , finally I am here to make my finale of my Mulu trip which is to climb the Mulu Pinnacle! The above picture already telling you all the warnings and time that you will take. As early as 8.00am in the morning, we started this adventure. I have brought myself 3 liters of water, 4 chocolate bars, dozens of biscuit packs and a lunch box which is included in this tour package. If you are not signed up with any tour agency, you need to pack your own lunch box. Total distance is 2.4km, it may sound easier than 9km jungle trekking walk but you are wrong if you do think like that. Not a well made road like you can see in Mount Kinabalu (for those been there). All are rocks and roots. Actually I prefer this trail more than the ladder type of trail in Mount Kinabalu. The reason is I can adjust the height that I would like to put my step onto. For Mount Kinabalu, it is a fixed height. The terrain on this mountain is very spiky. It has a lot of spiky rocks ev...
