Restoran Erawan Classic Thai & Fusion @Dataran Sunway

Restoran Erawan, voted as one of Asia's finest restaurants and Top 3 Best restaurant in Malaysia 2012. That is quite an awesome acknowledgement I would say for a Thai restaurant.
A nice comfy elegant waiting area with style. Basically to make a restaurant famous, first, you just need to spend something more on the decoration to be unique enough to attract your customers to take photos to upload to their social media such as Facebook, Tweeter, Instagram and many more.
The decoration doesn't have to make sense. The more "interesting" the better.
Second, participate in more competition, get interviewed by the papers, magazines and tv food programmes. Fame of the restaurant will just multiply instantly.
Third, dining set has to be special...special enough to make the customer to feel special by using them.
Look at their simple fork and spoon which is not simple at all.
Fourth, the ambiance of the restaurant. Perfect lighting to entice our dining mood and one more thing which is impossible to capture in the picture is the smell of this restaurant. Not the ordinary perfume smell which normally Ambi-Pur does the magic. They are using lemongrass fragrance instead. Absolutely bringing the Thai style of aromatherapy into our appetite. Their attention to detail is truly magnificent.
They are selling apparel like what Fullhouse did too? No, actually is not. These are souvenir available for any tourist who dined in this restaurant.
All these souvenirs are imported from Thailand.
The souvenir that caught my eyes is this coffee kettle which has a silky terrier model on it. So cute. However, by looking at the dust over it, I do not think they clean their souvenir everyday. Not so detailed somehow at least to this minor part.
This is their basin, I cannot imagine how much he has spent in just the mirror itself.
Interesting bottles which were our drinks for that day. Thai Milk Tea and Lemongrass with Honey which cost RM9.80 each.
Their rice is 100% from Thailand and it is served in this elegant bowl. It is cost RM3.00/bowl.
Tomyam Seafood Clear Soup (Level 2) @RM38.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3/5 - They set 3 levels in the spiciness of their Tomyam Soup. We chose Level 2 because we thought it should be between spicy and not so spicy but we were wrong. We can take spicy food but Level 2 is already far beyond our limit. So Level 1 should be enough and those who cannot take any spicy food should skip this. This soup would be perfect if we ordered a Level 1 instead but I have to give some credit for their fresh and tasty seafood.

Paku Pakis in Special Sauce @RM48.00++
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 1/5
Overall: 3/5 - This dish is very spicy too! They did warned us about the spiciness and they are very rigid to allow us to adjust the spiciness level unlike the Tomyam earlier. The amount of red and green chilies are all over the plate. Our mouth are in red hot flame and our tongue are almost numb after the tomyam and paku. BUT... I still have to give the credit to this Paku because they are still very delicious despite after all I have mentioned about their spiciness. It was a love and hate feeling. Highly recommended to everyone to try this but the price is quite high for a vegetable even they have 4 fresh prawns in it.

Smoked Duck in Tangerine Sauce @RM58.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 4/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Finally there is a dish which is not spicy on our table. This dish brings more sweet delight in our mouth. The soften duck meat with slight crunchy fragrance on its skin brings the whole smoked aroma into our mouth. Absolutely magnificent! One more thing, you have to take note when eating this is not to let the meat to soak on the sweet tangerine sauce for too long. It is very sweet. Unless you like it to be overly sweet.

Otak-otak @RM48.00
Outlook: 3/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - Not that bad but nothing special to be worth mentioning about this otak-otak.

Durian Platter @RM30.00
Outlook: 4/5
Creativity: 4/5
Taste: 5/5
Price: 2/5
Overall: 3/5 - You got a choice between a Musang King durian which cost at RM50.00 or Red Prawn at RM30.00. What is in the picture is the Red Prawn which is good enough to satisfy my desire on durian. The glutinous rice is sweet and delicious and the homemade durian ice cream is smooth! Perfect dessert for me but with a high price to pay.

One storey restaurant with only around 10 tables in it. Advance reservation is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. As for my verdict to this restaurant, I have to acknowledged that the ingredients they served are the best among the best. They have a lot of dishes which looks interesting and I wish to test. Apart of that, their service is top class and very attentive. These are all come with a price. The price is very expensive! Too expensive for a Thai restaurant. So it is really come to a question which is would you willing to pay for more for a food?
Total Damage: RM247.60
Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Food Serving Speed: Moderate
Will I Revisit?: Yes, their innovative menu is attracting me to come back to explore them!
