Oribe Sushi @Vipod Residence, KL

If you have dined in Sushi Hinata, you will know Hideaki Oritsuki-san. He has left Sushi Hinata and opens a new Japanese Omakase Restaurant with 2 other Japanese chefs which is known as Oribe Sushi. From the name itself, you can roughly guess who is the bigger boss among them.
I am here again to witness his creativity in serving Japanese cuisine to us with wholeheartedly. There are 5 types of Omakase to choose from in this restaurant. The price started from RM88++/pax and onwards. It is a pretty fair price for such a high class Japanese restaurant. All their Omakase sets have sushi in it and the difference are basically based on the number of sushi served. Only Oribe set and Omakase set has extra Sashimi moriawase and grilled dish in it with the price started from RM250++/pax.
This is my long lost friend, Ms. Cheryl Liew who has lost contact with her for 7 years. You have to admit Facebook is the key that is connecting us. I am grateful to them. This is her first time trying Omakase and I am extremely pleased that she really loves every each one of it.
We chose the highest category Omakase which is RM350++/pax. It started off with this cold started which is not really that special to me.
After that, we are straightaway served by their classy Sashimi set. Obviously, the Otoro is the best highlight in there which I believe you have just glup by looking at it. Soft and creamy meat just melt in your mouth so nicely. Not to forget the sweet ebi is really sweet and lip-smacking too. Overall, you do not have to worry about the freshness of the fish.
This is the chef's creative introduction to us which is a cooked fish roe and a bowl of abalone. I never had a cooked fish roe before but this is the first time I had it and it tasted like chicken meat. Haha.
The sweet ebi earlier on has made into tempura for us. I still prefer it raw so that I can taste the real sweetness in it.
The potato is so sweet! I bet the chef has soak in a sugar water overnight. The fish is crispy on the outside but so soft and juicy in the inside. It is was well made nonetheless. The only problem is the bones is quite spiky even though you can chew all of them. You need to be extra careful and slow when eating it.
A chawanmushi can never goes wrong for a premium restaurant like this. Below at 4 types of sushi which are served to us which are enough to make us feel full. I really like how Hideaki Orisuki-san teaching us the best way to eat his sushi. It is a truly a new experience for us. It brought a new taste from a usual sushi that we used to eat.

An Omakase is not complete without Otoro, Abalone and Uni. Most of us afraid of Uni is because of the fishy smell. However, a fresh sea urchin will never has that kind of smell. The only thing you taste is the seafood sweetness. Soft and tender meat that will melt in your tongue and later on you will definitely beg for more.
We are finally ended our course with a egg cake with slight shrimp taste in it. It is his own signature dessert which he claimed that he needs to spend 2 hours to make them.
A total of 12 dishes to pamper us in our Omakase experience. Overall Omakase experience is about interaction with the chef who is making your food, watching your chef serving your food and your chef understand your need and taste. I can say Hideaki Oritsuki-san has perfectly done his job. We had a nice chat and enjoy our food at the same time. If I have to force to pinpoint their food, it will be the first dish which is not really appetizing enough for me to start the whole course. Other than that, they have done just what I have expected.
