Nam Restaurant, Langkawi

Image
One of the best place to dine in Langkawi away from the beach is at Nam Restaurant. Nam Restaurant is inside the Bon Ton Restaurant.  This is the closest you get to the nature with swamp and wildlife around you. Peaceful and serene environment definitely will leave your mind blank for that moment. This resort definitely is one of the best place to stay. Cozy and friendly service is provided by the staff. However, their lunch menu is pretty limited. You advised to come over for their dinner instead. Nyonya Laksa @RM30.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste: 5/5 Price: 2/5 Overall: 4/5 - This is one of the best laksa that I have tasted so far. Different from the laksa from any other states in Malaysia. Even it is called Nyonya, it is not even close to Melaka's laksa. The coconut milk fragrant is all over it and with right amount of spiciness in it to entice your taste bud. Nam Fried Rice @RM44.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 2/5 Price:

Kiraku Japanese Restaurant, Cyberjaya (Teppanyaki Special Edition)

Image
To be honest, I never visit a restaurant more than one time except Kiraku Japanese Restaurant which I have posted about it the third time now. Please rest assure that this post is going to be different and will definitely excite you. The reason is because Kiraku Japanese restaurant is the only Japanese restaurant providing a very own private teppanyaki room with breath taking performance by the teppanyaki chef. They have 2 large rooms and 6 small rooms available. The meat that I have ordered on that day is salmon @RM37.00++, chicken @RM28.00++, lamb @RM64.00++, beef and foie gras @RM79.00++. Anything you ordered under their teppanyaki menu session will be cooked in front of you. Before those meat that I mentioned earlier, we had squid first which cost RM30.00++. Unfortunately, we had a bad start because of this. The squid is too salty to our liking. The only credit I can give is the squid is fresh. The chef that we have on that day is called Chef Reya. She is one of the c

Tomoe Japanese Restaurant, Subang Jaya

Image
Tomoe Japanese Restaurant has been around for quite sometime and everyone is giving them a good credit ever since then. This restaurant is managed by a genuine Japanese chef and he is presenting their finest skill and food quality from Japan to Malaysia. I always like a foreign restaurant that is managed by the foreigners. Somehow you know this is taste about the same back at their own country. Dobin Mushi @RM26.50++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Somehow this Dobin Mushi is way different than the one that I used to have. Maybe it is because the lime that they squeezed in it. I hardly able to taste the clear soup with seafood freshness in it. It is all covered by the sourish lime taste. I unable to accept it at first but after a few cups, I began to understand that this soup needs a longer time to adapt with the taste. However, I still prefer the original soup that I used to have. VCR Cafe, Pudu

Image
Alright, my cafe hunting adventures continues...and this time I am at VCR Cafe which is located just next to Swiss Garden Residence, It is very obvious when they are the only one with the all black color. It is a place where old architecture meets the modern twist. Well, good things will never gets old especially it gives you the feeling like home. This cafe has 2 levels. The space in the lower ground is very small and compact. If you are coming in a large group with 4 pax and more, you are advised to just head upstairs straightaway. This cafe practice self service so you just order your food and drinks here before you look for a seat. Before that, if you are wondering where to park your car, here is the tip. Park inside the Swiss Garden Residence and get a chop from their counter before you leave to get a special parking rate at RM2.00 for the first 2 hours and RM1.00 for subsequent hour. You need to help yourself for a cup of plain water or sugar for your coffee.  T

Ipoh Road Yong Tow Foo, Segambut

Image
As a Hakka, Yong Tow Foo is always the common food that we will eat almost everyday. At least in my family. Even when we are far away from home, we are still looking for it. Eventually, Ipoh Road Yong Tow Foo has become our solution. Every single piece you order is RM1.30/pc. Honestly, not really cheap at all. Anyhow, the taste is not bad at all especially they are using pork meat mixed with fish to add extra tangy sensation when chewing on it. The White Tou Fu is not that good because I am expecting it to be really soft and tender but it turned out to be slightly hard.  Even their fried food is selling at RM1.30/pc, the appearance looks deceiving but the taste is considerably impressive. Not too oily and the crunchiness is still exist.  The brinjal is still acceptable but overall. This restaurant does not really stand out with their food for us to travel a long way just for it. However, if you are nearby and you are feeling hungry, you definitely can choose this restaura

Ferry service Penang <-> Langkawi

Image
Mostly we travel by flight or taking ferry from Kuala Kedah to Langkawi. Not a lot of us will think of taking the ferry from Penang to Langkawi or vice versa. If you are a person who likes to take a ferry instead of flight, do check out this ferry service. The ticket fare is RM68.10 (adult) and RM53.10 (child). It is inclusive port handling charge of RM8.10/pax/way. They only have three trips per day either you are departing from Langkawi or Penang. One of the trip is via Pulau Payar which means they will stop by Pulau Payar. The whole journey takes about 2 hours 45 minutes highly depending on the sea condition. The ferry is big and stable enough to withstand high wave. You will not have a feeling of sea sick at all. It is comfortable and their air-con can be pretty cold too. They will play a movie for you to watch through out your wavy journey. At Langkawi, you purchase your ticket at Kuah Jetty. While at Penang, your ticket can be purchased from Swettenham Pier. Restoran New Wong Poh,

Image
It has been quite some time I have not had butter crab in KL. The last memory is still vividly in my mind. To refresh my mind again, I decided to dine in Restoran New Wong Poh. I found this restaurant by just typing "Butter Crab in KL" and this restaurant name was listed 6 out of 10 results in the first page. This restaurant must be real good! Lala in Superior Soup @RM12.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 4/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Overall: 3/5 - I know I am here with the main objective of feasting on their butter crab but their Lala in superior soup is something you really shouldn't miss. It is the best starter to have before the crab. Their superior soup is really full of lala taste in it with a wine kick. Extremely delicious. Apart of that, the lala meat is fat and chewy. The best part is the lala is fresh. So don't let yourself blinded by their butter crab and miss this superior soup. Butter Crab @RM55.00++ Outlook: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Taste
