Restoran Xin Dong Ting @Kuchai Lama

Image
In this post I would like to comment about a restaurant which is serving Hunan cuisine. Hunan is a province from China and the owner is migrated from Hunan and opened a restaurant in Malaysia. This is the second branch. This restaurant has a really bad service like almost any where you can see in China. No smile, expect you to order fast, do not like to entertain too many questions about what the food is made of and the worst part is they do not care if you can finish the food. Eggplants with long beans @RM15.00++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 2/5 Taste: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 3/5 - Slight spicy and delicious for a simple eggplant and long beans. Fried meat in farmer style @RM22.00++ Outlook: 1/5 Creativity: 1/5 Taste: 1/5 Price: 1/5 Overall: 1/5 - Hardly any meat in there. What you can see is onion, leek, red chilli and green chilli. The worst part it cost RM22.00++. Fried sausage with dried tofu fillet @RM28.00+ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 2/5 Taste: 4/5

Nana's Green Tea @The Gardens Mall

Image
Finally Nana's Green Tea has noticed about the market demand in Malaysia and opened a branch here at The Gardens. To those who is craving for their green tea dessert like me will definitely will not miss this one. However, this little fella is not going to have a tiny bit of it. She got her own home made dessert. Not just dessert. They do serve affordable food here too! However, I heard from others that their food is not very impressive. It is always full house in this restaurant and waiting for a seat is very common. Azuki Latte with Ice Cream. Only the red bean is slight sweetness in it but the whole drink is not sweet at all. It is a good choice for those who doesn't like too sweet dessert like me. They do serve hot drinks too. This is the same like the previous drink which is served in hot. Their signature is their parfait. There are a lot of choices which is just having different kind of ingredients only. As for the outlook they looked the same. Their par

Coliseum Cafe & Grill Room @The Gardens Mall

It is my day with my little princess, Ying Ying. She is getting cuter every single day. We had our own sweet time at Coliseum Cafe & Grill Room. This restaurant has been operating since 1921 and this is the first time after 92 years, they started to branch out their restaurant to Plaza 33 and Mid Valley. This restaurant has clinched Malaysia Book of Records award for the "Longest Operating Western Colonial - Themed Restaurant. Their first ever restaurant is at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.  It is not easy to sustain this long. They surely has their uniqueness in their menu to keep their customers happy. One of the reason is they are pork free restaurant. This easily encourage Malay citizens which stands more than 70% in Malaysia to enjoy western food in this restaurant. Mushroom Soup @RM10.90++ Outlook: 3/5 Creativity: 3/5 Taste: 2/5 Price: 3/5 Overall: 2/5 - I have made my own mushroom soup before so I understand how it is made. It is made from chicken stock

Batu Feringghi Beach, Penang

Image
Among all the beaches in West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, I will say Batu Feringghi beach is the most happening beach to compare with other beaches. They have lots of sea sport activities and it is always a tourist magnet. Banana boat one of the sea activities and it requires a minimum pax of 4 to play. It cost RM60/pax. One thing about the sea activities here that you should know is there are a lot of  "scavengers" who are always looking for tourists as their prey to spend their money in this. So when the supply more than demand, you can always negotiate the price. When you see there are many tourists waiting for their turn, don't bother because the price is definitely fixed. The most popular activity is this parasailing which you can either go in a couple or solo. The price is RM80/pax. Price given here are published price so please do note that there are still room for negotiation. Please do note that if you are trying to cut their price to dirt cheap and t

Edelweiss Cafe @Lebuh Armenian

Image
I love to meet my old classmates at another state or country. This time I had the opportunity to meet one of my dearest friend during old times, Chan See at Edelweiss Cafe, Penang. She is still that pretty that I used to know of. She is also very nice and friendly enough to squeeze some of his precious time from work to take us for a good lunch with us. Edelweiss Cafe is opened in a very old historical shop lot in Armenian Street. If you know the famous Ernest Zacharevic who draw the most famous brother and sister on a bicycle, that is called the Armenian Street. There are a lot of antique in this restaurant. Even their tables and chairs are from the old time Chinese kopitiam. Very vintage and creative enough to merge a western restaurant in Penang style. By the way, Edelweiss cafe is a German-Swiss restaurant. It is because the owner's husband is a German-Swiss. They do offer an affordable lunch set at RM24.00++ which is very attractive for office lady like Chan See.

Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng, Seng Lee Cafe

Image
In Penang, there is Indian fried mee has made a name for himself and there are known us Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng. They served authentic Indian style fried mee with their own unique style which you do not usually taste. This is the stall which is one of the 4 stalls in Seng Lee Cafe. Mostly people visiting this cafe just for Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng.  Most popular is their mee rebus. The gravy is fragrance and a little spicy but the highlights is the squid. That's what the chef claimed that not many other Indian fried mee will be generous enough to put squid. The price for having extra squid is RM5.00. For a normal mee rebus, the price is RM3.50. This is a normal mee goreng which is cost at the same price. It is a bit dry but why they taste so good is because of their wok taste. Believe it or not, the wok taste magically will stay and last in your mouth for a certain period. This is the kuey tiaw type which taste not that good. The yellow mee taste better. It is reco
